    An easier way (for me at least) is to work with the ‘Range Selector’ option.

    1/ Highlight the letters you want to leave.
    2/ Add a Text Animator of your choice.
    3/ Either use Hold or Linear keyframes to create the desired animation.
    4/ Repeat steps 1-3 for the other part of the text you wish to animate.
    This keeps the text layer as one unit and makes changes much simpler.
