Adobe Kuler is a great resource for color themes that is perfectly integrated in all Adobe CS4 software – except for After Effects. But this has changed now. In this tutorial, Mathias Möhl shows how you can use his brand-new script “Chameleon – The Adobe Kuler Color Theme Browser” to work with Kuler color themes in After Effects. Apply a new color theme with just one click and all colors of your composition update automatically.
Requirements
- Chameleon You can download the script here.

Cool..
haven’t watched the tut yet, but I’m glad to see Kuler getting a mention. It’s such an awesome tool, something that all of us should have in our arsenal.
realy nice plugin + tut
Very Cool, Thank You
Very nifty solution and well explained tutorial. I think this will be handy in situations with a close deadline. But it won`t win a design price with its automatic colour distribution
. Iit´s really great that its possible to import more than one schemes – great timesaver, thank you Mathias.
Mathias, This is a fantastic tool – good work and very clever thinking of the various possibilities, I salute you
Mathias,
Thank you very much for a wonderful plugin and for this marvelous tutorial. You are an excellent teacher. I can not believe how much I learned from this one tutorial. I love how you combined two tuts and created practically a whole color correction application.
Again Thank you
Great! Now I can submit mine too…ha ha
Yes, I am really courious and looking forward to it!
Nice work Mathias, this will be very useful. Best wishes, John Dickinson
Way to go Mathias! Very clever…
Thanks Mathias.
This have been a missing feature in AE for so long!
Love the shuffle buttons.
This sounds like something I’ve been looking for…for ages! Sure would come in handy in many a project.
Very, VERY useful.
Thank you!
This is just Brilliant work! ! ! ! ….
Fantastic! I used to relate to a Kuler color scheme in AE but I always had to do manual color picking and save each layout to get back to it in case I changed to another color theme, this will totally change workflow!! Thanks Mathias, awesome!
Very cool. So much better than taking the long way around like I used to!
Thanks!!!
Well i am still learning…… But thx……..
sweet! thanks a lot, thats gonna save a lot of time!
good work
super sache ! auf so ein “plugin” hab ich gewartet. gute idee. (aber dachte bisher immer kuler würde sich wie colour sprechen?”
grüße und mehr von solchen scripts !
interesting…
Funny. I always pronounced it “color”, not “cooler”
Great stuff!!
I always use kuler…this will really make the workflow easier.
Thanks Mathias for a brilliant script and a great tutorial.

Man, this will be freakishly helpful for motion graphics. Thanks a lot, Mathias! You da MAN!
I have been waiting for this, Thank you!… Does this work with CS3
Yes, it works with CS3/CS4 and both Win/MacOS.
Great stuff for image modifications and editing… for purists like me, this is a very good opportunity to learn things. Thanks.
It’s amazing but I thought from the beginning that it’s a free Script but It’s actually not.
anyways, Thanks
If is “pay what you want”. If you want to pay nothing, change the price to 0$. So it is free. Anyway, if youo like it and want to invite me to a beer, change the price to the price of a beer and not to 0$
i loaded it, gave it the right folder, followed instructions and then opened Ae. How do I get the Kuler window to open in Ae? I have the desktop Kuler open I just need the Kuler in Ae to appear somehow. thanks
Did you actually run the script?
If the script is in the script is in the scriptUI panels folder, you can open the script window over the window menue (in the last entries of the window menue)
Very useful in motion graphics and any artiste dealing with it has to have this great tool!
This is a great use of kuler! Always happy to see others creating new fun stuff with that app. Thanks!
Thanks, Mathias. Another really useful script for the tool box. I was a little bummed that we can’t open the Kuler extension in AE like you can in other CS4 products. So this remedies half the problem. Thanks.
This seems to be efficient and time-saving,as well as very nifty and being upto tasks. Having Kuler will definitely give a boost to my work!
I am a big fan of all your tutorials and everything. It has helped me a lot so far, and I plan to take up Film Editing and Special Effects as a career. Well, great work man!
