    First!

Thx for this serie, by far is the most profesional way to make a character in AE.

thx again for not doing it Premium! LOL

    greetings from Chile.

Good information for what you covered. It just seems to me that for the limited amount of topic you probably should have gone over it a bit more in depth. It’s nice to see that YOU can do it – it would have been nice to have some explanation so that I could do it too. You do have a pleasing TUT style so I know if you did slow down a bit and explain more – you could become a favorite TUT-or to a wider audience base.

This tutorial series is absolutely what I needed. I was breaking down and relearning Maya in preparation for a stop-motion style project I wanted to develop. It would be so much better to stay in the workflow I’m used to, thanks! I had a couple questions:

I’m assuming you create a general reusable “puppet comp” that you can then insert into “shot comps” as needed. If that’s the case, is there any reason you didn’t use “thisComp.frameDuration” when you divide by framerate in your control scripts?

Using thisComp.frameDuration (as I understand it) means that if the framerate of the shot / comp were to be changed then you wouldn’t have to re-edit all of your scripts.

Also, if possible, could you outline your experience of the benefits or extra features of FreeForm Pro? There’s not a lot of detailed information on their sales page.

I will jump in on the FreeForm Pro question… FreeForm Pro is infinitely faster, we expose control points and tangents for use with tracking data and expressions, it casts shadows on itself and instances of itself, it has reflection mapping and a built-in Generator (really cool) It also has adaptive tessellation and many U.I. enhancements like lasso, shift marquee select, and the mesh does not snap back to the default flat position when you change the number of rows and columns. It also has auto aligning tangents – some this stuff is shown later on in this tut series.

@Bwakathaboom – thanks for the gentle nudge :) Finally got around to adding some more details to the FreeForm Pro page. It has been quite the ride so far… starting to catch up though :) Thanks again.
