This is looking really awesome so far….Will this tutorial also have source files to go along with it?
Since this was client work, Project Files were not allowed to be distributed…. graciously, they did allow the puppet to be used as an example for this series though.
Yesssss!!!
Im first!!!
You all big losers, jeje, im joking…
Nice tut, as always…
Why do people feel the need to say “first”. You’re obviously not the first and now you just look pathetic.

..haha, lighten up dude. he was only playing.
Wonderful tutorial, congrats my friend. I had a question though, about the eyes, couldn’t u set transparency, like the actual mask, couldn’t that be done in photoshop? Not a big photoshoper so correct me if I’m wrong, but could you make holes in the eye layer directly in PS?
assuming you mean for the blink? It could be done this way but you would need 4 base head shapes one for each blink. animating a mask is much cleaner.
p.s. great tut
Having re-watched the Tut you’re right! I see no reason why you couldn’t make one eye shaped whole in photoshop. and then have the blinks on top.
sorry for jumping in before. :)
Why severals parts ? :-)
It’s so painful to counting the hours…
Thank’s you to say your secrets !
What a great compliment – I will pass this on to Dan.
Chris
Awesome… I have been looking for a series like this for years :)
how shell i create a puppet on the Photoshop like this one 2 use … i think it’s really difficult !!
I will soon make a tut. on how to make similar characters like the ones he has. they will me on youtube in around 2 weeks.
hello,
this is such a great series… but there is one problem… it will be the greatest if you show how you created the character in what ever program you used, either Photoshop or illustrator.
thanx a ton
Hi Daniel!
I just watched all of these videos, and I must say this tutorial series is pure gold. Thank you so much for sharing your process, and for doing it so clearly. Even though I don’t understand how you did some of the things involving code yet, I look forward to coming back here again and again until I do! You’re kind of my hero right now. I want to be just like you when I grow up :)
Cheers!
Amelia
I want to ask your Photoshop file?
