Final Product What You'll Be Creating

It is mind blowing what you can do in After Effects nowadays and this tutorial is perfect example. This full 3D, fully physics simulated title animation is done 100% in After Effects in a very short amount of time without having to write a single expression or having to do any key-framing ninja work. Even the art-direction is made easy by linking to Adobe Kuler swatches to get awesome professional color combinations.

CS4 is the minimum required version of AE to do this tutorial and it is aimed at AE beginners but any level user should benefit for the workflow tips to do something like this very quickly.

This is in-depth and appreciated, but not for beginners!

It’s totally doable by beginners. There are no advanced concepts, all the advanced stuff is handled by the software behind the scenes, that’s the beauty of it! Give it a try and you’ll see.

Nice tut, but saying Adobe Kuler = Art direction….ermmmm, no I don’t think so :P

Love the tutorial, but the only thing I’d add is, linking the source text of the Stroke Text with the Fill Text, then you would only have to change the Fill Text, and it would automatically change it for the Stroke…

Yeah, that’s a great suggestion. My goal was to not have to write any expressions (even if they were pick-whipped) but you can definitely do that to save a bit of time.
