    Dave,

Thanks for the tutorial. I do have a question, however. Why in the world did you apply RSMB to the background layer and then spend all that time trying to make the built in motion blur in After Effects match. Would it not have been much quicker and more accurate to make an adjustment layer overtop of all layers and apply RSMB to that? That way you would perfectly match the blur between the scene and the comp’ed objects. Was this an oversight, or were you trying to show how to match the blur if your original shot already had blur? I am not trying to be picky, just a bit confused. Thanks.

In my experience, applying a third party motion blur plug-in to an adjustment layer can cause some resource issues with larger comps and the motion detection doesn’t always match on every layer. Also there is an issue if you have staggered layers. The plugin can’t work out what to do when the comp jumps from one staggered layer to the next staggered layer. You end up with one messy frame full of blur before it comes back to a normal moblur treatment. Hope that makes sense..

Thanks for the explanation I have used it on adjustment layers with no problem before, but will make sure to look for this in the future. Thanks again for the great tutorial

this is the first time i sat through a tutorial of this length. by far! love your accent by the way.
did you notice that when you were lining up the lights to get the bloom, you set the opacity to 35% and didn’t reset it when all was lined up. i liked the result more when it was still 100%. more etheral indeed. :)
