Final Product What You'll Be Creating

Use the new Camera Tracker in AE CS6 to 3D motion track your scene, then composite some elements in it to make a sort of Hologram. Using Trapcode Particular we make the hologram cloud which fits in with the 3D scene, then stick some green screen footage in it and BAM, insta-hologram! (Instagram?)

    hey do you need after effects cs6? or can i use cs5 or cs5.5? i mean are you going to be using the new tools in cs6? thanks!

      You can do it even in cs3 (with camera tracker or any camera tracker software)

      The effect is really easy, just need a matchmoved camera and trapcode particular for that “genie vortex”.

        after effects cs6 tiene cambios en su trackeo por eso lo manejan aqui con ese!

      I specifically use the new 3D camera tracker that comes with CS6. But The Foundry also makes a really good camera tracker that works with any semi recent version of AE.

    What I don’t like here is the hologram looks 2D. It would be better making it 3D if that’s possible.

      Well, that’s because I use greenscreen footage so by it’s nature it’s going to be flat. If you get creative and put your actor on a spinning platform of some sort and time it with the move you could get more 3D looking hologram, but that of course would have to be in camera.
