Right side wall is not matching perfectly with left side wall. The overall effect could have been made more perfect. Well…a nice effort though!

Thanks! Yeah, the wall track is, unquestionably, the most difficult part of the setup for this effect. The way I shot it, with the plates on a separate filmed pass and dealing with the change in perspective didn’t make it easier either. It’s something I’ve noted for future shoots.

neat tutorial, thanks for that. but mind that the compression of the video is pretty high, thus its sometimes hard to see what you’re doing, even in HD mode ..

Put off watching because of the final result. In my opinion, not a professional look.

Thanks for this Nice Tut !

I happen to agree with AK, the resulted video should have been better. The tutorial in itself is a nice idea however it’s poor in technique.

If you look at Demon Cam: Inside Look(VC) you’ll see a woman coming out of a portal, that would’ve made a much better tutorial and much more interesting way for the person to come out of a wall or nothing even…

    Sorry Keith.

Point both well said and taken, but firstly let me say that this tutorial took me about six hours to record and put together between cutting out the keying steps and all the inbetween renderings, so it’s still a rather lengthy process. Secondly, I created this effect from scratch, back near March of this year, so well before the DemonCam trailer even existed (since it was released this past week), and my original goal was to have the individual phase through the wall, in an interactive manner, (as for the light effects, it’s something that’s relevant moreso to the project that the effect originated from, magic based on light). My intent was to present a method that accomplished the effect, since I had to create one from the ground up, particularly since, as I mention in the tutorial itself, what I found on the net, was, at best, lackluster in comparison to even this.

As stated at the finale of the tutorial, I appreciate comments and remarks, both positive and negative, but simply saying it’s “unprofessional” does not help me improve, either. If you can break down (as one person stated, the wall shifts a bit in the track), things that could be done better, or differently, that would be far more fruitful for myself, and others who might happen across this tutorial in the future.

      Regards,
      Keith

Wow…You guys a bit harsh arent you? Its a demo, a starting off point if you will.
Personally, I would have approached the effect a bit differently but I came here to see what I can learn from other him. It takes a lot to put up a tut and put yourself out there.

If you yourself can’t do better then dont say anything at all. If you can…then what are you doing here? I would love to see YOUR tut? POST UP or SHUT UP!

I at least walked away with a better understanding of Moca. Keith, I dont know you from Adam…but thanks for the time and effort.
