This is the third of a 3-part series on how to replicate the Priori Incantatem effect from the Harry Potter films. Our final tutorial will take a look at making the effects fit into the shot. We will make our particles glow and give them a bit of color, as well as adjusting brightness, matching grain and adding heat distortion. There are a lot of possibilities for extending the effects in this shot, I encourage you to explore these ideas further and leave a link in the comments section below.

Wow, its mind blowing how easy you make this seem. Thanks ALOT for this tutorial!
This is what happens when you do it for a living ;)
Why not come with a year ago? When I had problems with setting a similar effect in Particular for my university work for our television.
It was really great to see your full workflow on this project. I’m looking forward to applying some of these techniques on my own footage.
Keep up the good tuts.
What ? No free screening of the latest movie ? :)
Just kidding, the tutorial is great! ( And I bet the traffic will be doubled this week :) )
Definitely! I always see a lot of young kids on YouTube putting Harry Potter stuff up a few weeks after the films’ releases. I’m sure that’s why Adam delayed the release a few weeks too – smart move!
Gee wllkiiers, thats such a great post!
Help! I am not able to use the color balance to the beams. Althought i set the values it just wont color it. I skipped the part wich included the Clashy Thing.
Oh, never mind. I solved the problem. :D
Really quick run without actual footage or actors… just used an image as the background. Great Tutorial!!
