Use the “Advanced Lightning” effect to composite some electric arcs in your hand. Then using a blur to make the lightning glow, we’ll add some light to the scene and use an expression to have the light flicker.

    Great tutorial, however I can’t seem to get the lightning to sparkle. The lightning just stays the same. It’s the first Time I use ae, so therefore it’s probably something really simple ;)
