Creating a Tracked Head Wound

Aug 6th in VFX by Mathias Mohl

In this tutorial Mathias shows that corner pin tracking can do much more than just replacing some pictures on a wall. We are going to compose a wound on a moving head and use the Mocha tracker in combination with his script MochaImport. Trust me, this is so much easier then creating a real head wound!

I have a computer science background and am currently working on my PhD. Compositing and all the other film related stuff is just a hobby for me.

Requirements

  • Mocha Tracker version 1 is included in CS4 or you can get it on it's own if you have CS3 from here.
  • MochaImport script which can be downloaded here. Help him out by donating if you can!
  • Red Giant Warp which is available as demo version here.

So…..do you need both mocha AND Warp….or does warp do what mocha does…and more?

    Interesting overview.

My only other question is…..that guy isn’t REALLY leaving the house in that scarf thing is he? LOL! :D

You don’t need Warp, but having Warp adds some awesome functionality that allows for more advanced, yet easier to achieve effects.

This is also achievable without the scripts… but it is a lot harder, and that is what scripts are for I guess. Nice job

    Nice tutorial!

But i have the same problem as well. I bought the german version of after
effects, so then you only receive a german license key.

No, he is supposed to look like a drug dealer. It is a good friend of mine acting for my current short film project.
