In this tutorial we will learn how to properly create a good workflow between After Effects and Cinema 4D. In the process we are going to take a look at how to create your own custom ground cracking overlays for compositing.

First we’ll matchmove our shot and send it to C4D. Second, you will learn how to create some basic geometry matching the our scene and then shattering it into pieces.

Once that is all done we will be using some basic effectors from MoGraph and use those animation tools to give use a nice ground crack animation.

After all that we will take a quick look at exporting a ambient occlusion pass and how we can use just that to composite our shot in After Effects. In After Effects I will teach you our to match your render to your scene properly and how to add motion blur to your render.

We will be using a few elements from VideoCopilot’s Action Essentials but its not completely necessary, don’t let that limit you.
