pretty cool tutorial.. nice interesting technic

  2. peewee1002 says:

    Preview looks nice.

I am quite interested in that end sort of effect when the AE logo appears.

Will watch later if my internet connection is up for it.

  3. Billy says:

The text effect appears to be a ramped up version of Maltaannon’s Particular 2 preview tutorial here: http://maltaannon.com/articles/after-effects/particular-2-overview/

…and the logo reveal is really just the reverse of what Devin Northrup did in his tutorial here: http://ae.tutsplus.com/tutorials/motion-graphics/create-a-flare-and-light-streak-text-reveal/.

The entire effect is very nice, thyough. Combining Form and Particular has a way of making everything just a little sweeter!

Billy just to make all clear, I didn’t copied anything from this tutorials. It might looks similar but it’s not on purpose. Actually I tried to recreate the Logo reveal from the beginning of District 9. The difference is that the letters there are 3D and look a bit different. If you want i can post a link with the video to see what I tried to recreate.

        Stefan,

I wasn’t really suggesting you were plagarizing, only pointing out that both major effects you were doing have already been covered. I pointed out that yours was a “ramped” up effect from Maltaannon’s. Anyone who watches both can see you didn’t copy exactly. I would be interested in seeing the District 9 title sequence only to see if you were successful in your recreation. As I said, your entire effect is very nice. I haven’t yet….but will be….checking out your tutorial. I love anything particular or form!

      Heh Billy, nice one. :)
I checked his site. I can’t understand it all but I saw a lot of rip offs from videocopilot. Even the music in the tutorials seemed like it /as this part was the one I understood/
Specially for this one – way beginner level /a lot of tips and tricks are not familiar to the author/ and really bad accent :)

      Peace,
      Mark

      • Stefoto says:

He Mark :) tell me something which tutorial in my site is a rip off from Videocopilot? The magic strokes tutorial is way older than Andrew’s similar tutorial with light casting. The vanishing point is just a translation, because a lot of users wanted to learn this technique. The Scary 3D Sparks Title tutorial is a tutorial which shows how Andrew did something which grab my attention long time ago and i decided to create a tutorial about this. As you can see there is no such a tutorial in videocopilot. The music in the tutorials is from Pro Scores pack. I think that this pack as all the products in Videocopilot are made to be used for such things! That’s why i bought it, because i need it for several projects and i decided to use it for intro part in my tutorials, because i love this kind of music. And for this tutorial. Please tell me which tips and tricks I’m missing i would love to know. Maybe there is a reason for something that i did.
For the accent yeah I know that it’s bad :D

Thanks for the comment. Soon i will post the intro of district 9 and also I’m waiting for your answer Mark.

  4. Slowpoy says:

Great tutorial. I really like the beginning when the letters just gets thrown out in towards the camera.

  5. IANH - BR says:

The begin is really great. Cool

  6. Remington M says:

That looks awesome! I’ll rarely ever actually watch the entire tutorials on here, but I will definitely being checking this one out later.

  7. Antwan says:

    Bravo brato! Super e!

  8. illd says:

Good one! But in the beginning you could have used the random function for the letters instead of setting up 25 letters manually. Its way faster and your more flexible…

  9. Rafael Braga says:

    hahahaha

    you`re quite good man… =)

    thanks … again …

  10. MassFocus says:

Very interesting effect Stefan ! Congrats ;) i’ll check the tut lateron.

  11. Nikolaus says:

Cool effect. Thx for share your know how.

  12. madmonk says:

I guess somebody should thank maltaanon…

    • Stefoto says:

madmonk i don’t know why you think so. Maybe only maltaanon can use particular with letters for custom particles? Don’t you think that there are lot’s of creative people over the world who can create amazing stuff themselves.
The fact that there is a tutorial showing how to use letters for custom particles doesn’t nessecery mean that everybody who uses this technique is coping from the tutorial!

      • madmonk says:

Well stefoto I guess at this point that is just the fact that the new options in particular 2 kinda “suggest” to people this kind of effects, that’s all. My fault.

Good work and keep it up!

  13. madmonk says:

wow I’ve been through watching the first part and it’s really worth the watch, I loved how you set up curves to create the metal look effect! and also all the particular settings. Now I’m gonna watch part 2…well done since now! :)

  14. bluelabel says:

Very nice one, well done… The part before the logo appears looks like a tutorial i have seen on http://www.ayatoweb.com . But i like it. Keep going on…

  15. Stefan says:

That’s the opening i tried to recreate. It’s not successful but it came out pretty well.

  16. DarkRoomFX says:

The funniest thing probably is that probably the guy who did District 9′s begining title ripped it from Maltaanon, because just like Stefan I saw District 9 and found striking resemblance between logo sequence of the movie with Maltaanon’s tutorial on Particular 2,whose works I totally respect and know almost all of them by heart. His talent and skills in AE are trully outstanding,so Stefan probably’s not guilty of plagiarizm, but eventually in this small community each one of us is using ideas that are similar to those already made!

Nice one buddy.Keep on working hard!
