Final Product What You'll Be Creating

In this tutorial I show you how to create complex looking glitch effects that have a lot of texture. The textures are created using elements that we will put together and by the stacking of effects. After Effects: AEGP Plugin PNGIO Support: PNGIO library error: IDAT: CRC error (5027:: 12)

    any idea why?

    • Steph

there seems to be an issue with your Smudge 01.PNG file

this looks very promising… looking forward to it

    Very nice result David.

  • Dave Bode

I just got back into the US. I will look at the project and see if I can see the issue your having.

    • NinjaTrek2891

There’s indeed a CRC problem in Smudge 01.png. Though a easy working is there for people who wanna play with it.

This is what I did. Add > Smudge 02.png http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShhYj8fM9jc < and I'm pleased with it.

Thanks Dave for the perfect tutorial !

  • Jordan

Really wish this tutorial actually worked and didn’t have errors in the after effects project. Please look at this :(

    • NinjaTrek2891

Hi Jordan, I wonder what problems you encounter. The only problem is with one PNG file. Its ok for the rest !

I cannot replicate the issue you are having with the project files. Perhaps there is a file that got corrupted somewhere in there. I am working to try and get it resolved.

For now I have uploaded the footage folder here http://db.tt/kNIsgORc

Just unzip the folder and replace the files in the (footage) folder in the project files.

    Hope that helps.

Ive been slowly working through this tutorial and so far all is well…the only criticism I have is that in many part of the video you go way to fast to follow and you often make adjustments to things without saying so and if you dont catch it watching the video you end up wondering why your result differs.

Id rather have a 2 hour tutorial that went at a normal pace than a 45 min one that leaves gaps…

  • Steph

I just got to the end of the logo and you are moving so fast and jumping around that its so frustrating that I just want to give up…I really think you should think about your audience when you make your next tutorial…technical skill doesn’t always translate into teaching. I’m so pissed right now. ARRRRGHH

Sorry for all the posts…..I realize this is an Advanced tutorial and for an intermediate level guy trying to improve his skills this is just driving me crazy :-)

Your correct, I compressed portions of the video for time. I did this because it basically me just making adjustments until it looked right. You should have the final comp in the project files and you can see what the settings are for the effect there if you need to.

Sorry to cause you frustration! That wasn’t my intention at all.

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for this awesome tut it has really helped me create a very professional effect for a project I’ve been working on. Could I ask where you got the sound effects for your clip from as I really love the sound bites you have used.

    Cheers

    Great tutorial.

Had to replace the PNG files by TIFF though due to the infamous PNGIO library issue in AE on Windows.
