Final Product What You'll Be Creating

This entry is part 1 of 20 in the series Screen Fillers

In this first episode we are going to start covering how to create the center circular element and animate it. We are going to use mainly shape layers with all sorts of modifiers and expressions to animate the elements.

This project was inspired by this piece made by the very talented z-design.

    WOWWW! great composition!

  • sabini1

Thank you very much for this wonderfull tutorial :)

Can you give me some tips for compositing these interfaces on live footage?

    • http://www.ju-r.nl Rutger

I’m guessing you just add the composition on top of your footage, and set a blending mode (like Overlay). Maybe add some glow and some light effects on the subject’s face and you’re set.

Or isn’t that what you meant? Pretty basic stuff right?

Anyways, very nice final image! I will follow these tuts, I think (or hope) there is a lot to learn about working practical and efficiently in this tut series, great work and thanks Stefan!

C’mon, its after effects cs5 or?
I have cs4 and am trying to open it and it says that the project has been created with after effects 10 and cant be opened. :(

    nice one btw

    I’m faceing the same problem:

After Effects error: The file you are attempting to open was created with After Effects version 10.5 (Windows 64) and cannot be opened with this version. See http://www.adobe.com/aftereffects for information on upgrading your software.

great tut , always a problem for me to build one. Thank you Stefan

  • BozonBison

Can anyone help. when I add the code to create the random number in the middle of the circle it cycles the random numbers very quickly. Is there a way to slow down the text transitions.

    Cheers
    Paul.

Stefan, did you build the animations as part of a project?
I just saw the center piece in a “Razer Game Booster” Promo. It inspired someone to copy it exactly, or you built the promo.\?

It’s in the video shy of a min in.

I have but 1 question open to all (and especially to the creator/author of this tutorial series): Is there ANY tool (software) out there that can create (or at least leverage) AN ACTUAL USABLE UI with the fluidity offered by AE?
Don’t get me wrong – AE interfaces are ASTOUNDING, but they are meant to be outputted as a video file (like watching a movie like Iron Man). AE does not offer these wonderfully fluid interfaces to be used as ACTUAL, LIVE and INTERACTIVE. Is there such as tool to create actual, interactive, After Effects-like UI?
