Final Product What You'll Be Creating

This entry is part 1 of 2 in the series Pipboy Touch Screen

In Day 1 we’ll go over how to set up the shot to add a CG screen on a cell phone, GPS, or anything with a screen. It really looks cool when you do it on something portable though. We’re making a pipboy so we’ll go over how to mimick the pipboy look as far as style, color, and feel. So get ready to build build build!

This is very cool, but will you show in the next part of the lesson, how to track this pboy screen image to the the real screen like it was in th preview? Anyway thank a lot fraet tut

  3. Anthony Breslin says:

I love this game so much bro. This tutorial looks brilliant. Can’t wait.

    Thanks a bunch for this!!

  4. Adam says:

I haven’t watched the tut yet because I want to know if it is actually an interactive, working display, or is it timed? Looks awesome though!

    • Adam says:

… it’s video… what do you mean “interactive?” It’s a shot composited into pre-filmed footage, and I would assume that the screen switch happens at a set interval. If you want interactivity, go to activetuts.

      • Adam says:

That said though, it’s an awesome tutorial and I love the look. I may have color corrected the plate footage though, to give it a more fallout feel.

  5. Andrew says:

  6. Kemet says:

  7. That was a very nice preview.
    I’ll watch the tutorial later.

  8. Sweet stuff! Gives me the chills when thinking of the game .. it’s so grim.

Very Cool! But, coming from a hardcore Fallout fan, this really should be on his wrist.

Hey, to fix your problem with the text tool, play around with the setting panel of the character box . It will set the default anchor point every time you make a new text later.

  13. Good post and straight to the point. I don’t know if this is actually the best place to ask but do you people have any ideea where to employ some professional writers? Thanks in advance :)

  14. Refuzake says:

This is Really awesome tut !

  15. frankyframe says:

    720X540 = 4:3 ?
you did not check the checkerbox and said: ” you see here, this is a 4:3 aspect ratio ”
please do some research for that. This not true PAL or NTSC

  16. Brian D says:

For those of you looking how to track these elements…There is a great mocha tracking tut at creative cow. Mocha also lets you mask out where the guys thumb covers the screen.

  17. js says:

Is there a part three because part 2 does end rather abruptly??

  18. Reeks says:

Awesome Parts 1 & 2, but where is part 3?? The effect of his thumb touching the screen. I thought only complete tutorials were supposed to be posted?? Kinda sux that I spent three hours getting only 75% done…

  19. Zac says:

haha i looked it up and March 15, 1945 was a thursday… so only off by one day… nice job :)
(Oh yeah, awesome tut aswell ;) )
