Organic Liquid Filling Logo Reveal

Organic Liquid Filling Logo Reveal

Tutorial Details

Final Product What You'll Be Creating

In today’s tutorial we will cover how to create a fluid, liquid-like transition which can be used to reveal logos, animate elements on or off, or transition between elements. Trapcode Particular will be used, although CC Particle World would also work. Topics include using custom particles, motion paths, track mattes, and creating a fluid distortion.

Thanks a lot for this tutorial, Remington. It is a really nice reveal and it’s good looking overall. It sure is an inspiration.

Sorry for the hissing on my “s”‘ sounds! I didn’t have my regular mike, so I was using my webcam mike and it obviously likes to do that. Hopefully it’s not too noticeable (now that I brought it to your attention ;) )

The particle issue with the preview is a known error, it happened in that “Making Of – The “Insider” Graphics Piece” tutorial too and the guy who made it said the exact same thing, purging the cache should fix it.

In any case, great tutorial but I didn’t really get why the particle had to be a custom shape though, couldn’t we obtain a better effect by using a circle-ish looking particle for example? And a case could be made that the effect is missing a sort of ripple effect. I think it could be animated by making the turbulent displacement circle animations into a pre-comp, having two versions of the same pre-comp, one that’s simple and one where we apply fill and set it to a lower shade of the same color, after which we apply a 2 circle masks and animate them sort of sequentially. That way it would look like it ripples after it ‘hits’. Just an idea.

Yeah, it does fix it but it still seems like my cache doesn’t all the way purge. Every other frame seems to purge! That’s more of an After Effects issue then Particular though. I like the new cache system, but I think it has a few bugs still.

It doesn’t have to be a custom shape. I just wanted it to have a little something different on the front of it, then just a rounded shape. Although you could absolutely use a sphere, and perhaps have it get smaller over time to add some variance.

I like the ripple idea! If you make something with it, make sure to post in in the comments! Like I said, this is a more basic version of this effect. You could also add some drops animating out when it hits, and when it fills the shape also.

when you create a fluid effect, you play with rotation. And you said tap o click. What did you mean tap o click?
