Final Product What You'll Be Creating
In this tutorial I’ll show you a cool way to create your own economy show opening sequence. We’ll use Digieffects Freeform (bundled free with CS5) to create a single dollar bill flopping in the air. Then, using Trapcode Particular, we’ll emit hundreds of dollar bills to create a nice animation. Finally, we’ll add some nice Depth of Field using a custom build depth map and the Lens Blur plug-in.

Very Nice, does Digieffects Freeform have a CS4 package?
No it does not, only in cs5… :(
Hey man, nice preview! I’m diggin’ the animation, thanks!
But Digieffects Freeform was available as seperate package also for CS4. So it can be done. No worries.
Love this tutorial! The bounce of the globe is so easy but very convincing. You know what you’re talking about. Great job man!
Does anyone have a link for an image of the planet with a transparent background
They are all over the web.
digifect freeform came with my production premium, but it’s only a trial version. Is this the case for everyone else?
Hey folks,
I got one more suggestion i forgot to add to the tutorial -
1. when you create the dollar bill using Digieffects Freeform, add to the composition one front light (preferably parallel, but you can experiment with other light sorts) in front of the bill layer (front in 3D space), that will add shadows to the bill in the places where it folds and creases over itself.
2. Add another, weaker light (preferably parallel or ambient, but you can experiment with other light sorts), call it back or rather fill light, and place it behind the bill layer (again, behind – in 3D space).
that way you wont get entirely black bill frames, when the bill is facing you at around 90 degrees.
I will use this technique ones again in a new tutorial I’m working on, so you will have a chance to see what I’m talking about.
see you then
Ran Ben Avraham.
Great job but one mistake though… like all other 3D plug-ins for AE you should not apply FreeForm to a 3D layer, but rather a 2D layer. This is the reason why you got the impression that it is a 2.5 D effect. I can assure you like Particular and Form, FreeForm is a 3D plug-in.
Cheers,
Chris
