Haha I love you guys. I’ve been wanting to learn how to do simplistic style things like this for the longest time and there are so few good tutorial sites out there to show it well. This is great, very simple but extremely good looking and effective.

Nice tut! The quality of the video is a bit hard to see at full-screen (compared to Lloyd’s 1st tutorial here) but still awesome. Is there any way you can add in the text effect at the end too?

I don’t know? the resolution on this tutorial is very poor compared to the first tutorial, everything looks very blurred and it’s hard to follow along..I was looking forward to learning the technique (

Hey guys, we definitely understand about the video quality issue. This tut was recorded before we adopted Viddyou to host our tuts, and it was recorded in a resolution that won’t display in HD on the service. All our screencasts from now on will be in HD, so please bear with us.

It would be much more pleasing if the tutorials were NOT in video format. Many firewalls in Canada block videos like this one. Also, I have been wanting to learn AE for a long time and just bought it last week and have next to NO idea how to use it. Would there be any chance of having a beginners Beginner tutorial?

The first tutorial was simply excellent and I wouldn’t have expected anything less from an Envato site, but this one just doesn’t seem too overly impressive, especially from someone with Haley’s skills.

Agreed, the music is awful. Any music for a tutorial is a bad idea, but you managed to choose the worst music ever made.

Otherwise, good subject. This site is going to be great (as long as this guy’s music is kept as far away as possible).

I wanted to love the tutorial, but the poor quality and distracting music, coupled with long gaps of just fiddling and no real progress, and a poor explanation of what was being done made it really very difficult to follow.

I’m afraid I got bored half way through. Hoping for better next time though

I liked the tutorial, and LOVED the music…but found it a bit distracting, especially in a tut where we needed to listen to him because of the low rez. I look forward to seeing others tuts in higher rez.

Hi! love youre tuts, but how on earth did you change the start point in the shape layer? cant find it in my AE….

Ugh, I can’t even get this to look right. The lines I drew way back when with the pen tool don’t look like yours in the end.

When you finalized yours the lines kind of faded down the coming of the arc… while mine continue out through the whole thing. So when I go to flip it at the end, it just looks weird. A bit hard to explain too.

Could you just upload the .aep file?

Music is excellent. Zappa I believe. Could only be Zappa I’m sure. Pleasant change of pace from the all the other tutorial presenters and their often times lame attempts at humor. I guess the detractors would prefer the Jonas Brothers but you stick to your guns. Good Tut.

the result is nice, but you have to explain a lot more. there are times where you just tweak the sliders and say nothing. honestly i’d like some background info why you’re using this or that effect and what you’re actually doing.
