Final Product What You'll Be Creating

Twice a month we revisit some of our reader’s favorite posts from back in the archives of Aetuts+. Today we’ll look at an amazing post from former Aetuts+ editor, Lloyd Alvarez. This was Lloyd’s first tutorial for Aetuts+ published in December 2008 and beautifully explains some more advanced ways to use Trapcode Particular. Let’s take a look…

In this tutorial you will learn how to create a unique twist on the traditional fireworks display. The tutorial shows you how to create fireworks with Trapcode Particular, and how to reflect this effect over water.

Hey maybe he made this one first. why does it matter any ways…

Really interesting, I saw the actual animation this was made after a year ago and I loved it. Its so nice to finally see how it was made. I think the gravity on the flower should be less and there should be a small ramp on the opacity over life too. Other then that, I completely loved it!

  • Meneses

    Nice…..tuto!!!

  • http://www.davepit.com Dave

Really well done tutorial, I appreciate all the small details and tricks here and there. I’m fairly newbie, but I was able to understand everything you did with ease.

Hey guys, this tutorial was indeed recorded before the other one, but we decided to publish the AETUTS intro tutorial because, well, it seemed fitting for our first ever tutorial :).

This is so beautiful. Excellent tutorial to make some videos for spring.

  • http://www.tutorialwow.com/ Josh Drake

Ack – another tutorial that uses shareware plugins! Can you make some tutorials that don’t need software from Trapcode? I don’t mean to sound annoying, but it would be nice to be able to do the tutorials. ;)

    The result looks nice, though.

  • Mars

great tutorial! My AE prof used to show this piece as inspiration in class!

One thing I would add is that before you invert the y scale on the second firework to create the reflection, set your anchor point level with the horizon line!

But this tut is worth it simply for that expression alone, oh yeah, plus the awesome particular work. :D Thanks!

eh, this is kind of cheese

  • Dante

Very nice tutorial! I like the idea of the mountain being the silhouette of a woman, very interesting the effect it leaves.

    Congratulations once again.

  • KezMondo

Video player needs fixed. When I turn volume down to 0 it does nothing. Full screen takes up the whole 2 monitors i’m using with one black useless screen. Fix it please, good tute though.

Just one question; maybe I wasn’t paying a super amount of attention but how can I apply the exploding effect to a text layer.

  • http://aescripts.com Lloyd Alvarez
    Author

Hi Brandon, if you want to apply this effect to a text layer simply set your type in a pre-comp and use this precomp in the same manner as I use the flower in the tutorial

  • Kris

  • Brandon
