I am not making a negative comment about this tutorial. Evan knows his stuff. I won’t be doing this tutorial since I am in the process of learning C4D and not 3dSM. My only comment is that this topic has been covered. There are lots of 3D/AE integration tutorials out there, for both of the main 3D software packages. There are several right here on aetuts. Since August there have been 4 or 5 tutorials here about integrating 3D program renders into AE. A quick look over at Topher’s site, http://www.visualfxtuts.com will find you many such tutorials.

I just don’t think aetuts is getting the amount of tutorials necessary to present fresh ideas. So, we get a rehash of ideas over and over again. This obviously is frustrating many more people than just me.

I do like how I get tagged as being the “negative” one around here when there are guys like this (from the day 1 comment thread) posting:

    Karpathia: “crap tutorial”

    Wow…..

Thanks for the time, though, Evan. I do like your stuff. You are obviously excellent at your job. I would love to see a unique idea from you.

You do realise that making a comment about the redundancy of the tutorial and others on the AETuts+ site is still making a negative comment, right? Not saying you’re specifically a bad guy automatically because of that, just pointing it out. Also, I’m sure that you could transfer the skills from 3DSM over to C4D; just because they’re different programs doesn’t mean one shouldn’t at least give it a shot, I assume.

Anyway, I liked the tutorial; I’m just looking for something I can use in an intro to videos I make, and I might as well go all out since I’ve got AE, rather than…Oh, I don’t have anything to compare it to. Nyeh, got the point across, at least.

“I would love to see a unique idea from you.”

I don’t write you off as the ‘negative guy’ or whatever, but with that closing off your comment that you initially claimed wasn’t negative, I instead get more of an urge to write you off as just an idiot.

      Regards,

      ≈Roy

I never said I wasn’t making a negative comment. I said I wasn’t making a negative comment “about the tutorial.” You should consult some reading comprehension tutorials.

Yeah…I was making a negative comment about the redundancy of tutorials. It was a negative comment about what is or what is not put on aetuts.com. I was not making a negative comment about Evan or his tutorial. Pretty simple really.

No….see you are the moron. I am very familiar with Evan’s work. I have visited his site numerous times. My comment was that geared to the fact that I know he is talented and could present unique ideas. With that in mind, I would like to see a unique (rather than the something that has been done over and over on the internet) tutorial from him. I would say the same thing to someone like Lloyd Alvarez if he presented a 3D to AE integration tutorial. The comment was clearly to the site and not to Evan.

I have to laugh at you….since your ability to comprehend more complex ideas seems painfully limited.

        Douche Bag.

I think Karpathia doesn’t understand the meaning of free learning, maybe he could send us a tutorial.

Like your work, and agree with billy.

    Cheers, mate

    Thx for your effort, Pal

    Very appreciated

Even for a beginner I still want to create some cool 3D stuff, not something that looks like it was done in after effects. At least have the button rotate around or something as it falls?

    Meh

Watch the tutorial dude, the preview will mislead you.

Considering I’m hella green to the 3D Max scene, this tutorial was very helpful. I learned how to operate and move around a little in Max. Nothing needs to be cool, its a technical demonstration for those who are completely new to 3D integration and reactor physics.

By the way, thx for the tut Evan, I really enjoyed the first part. Only thing that threw me off was when you didn’t call out the short cuts you systematically press :) no biggie though

    Evan hi!
Its allways nice to see new tuts from you. You belong to the few that help the comunity grow. People like you are an inspiration!! I wish you the best!!!

    Evan dude.
    your pretty cool.
your the only person I’ve actually stopped doing what i was doing and i just sit there and listen.
paying attention is not one of my strong point i may add.
but the most intimate detail about the setting and what the are is like you said in other tuts “most other tutorials are pretty lame and not really intuitive”.

You take all the fighting out of the software.
and i hate fighting the software to get good results.

I know as long as your around others will learn alot faster

    Thanx
