Final Product What You'll Be Creating

In this tutorial I will demonstrate how to build up a procedural dispersion effect using Trapcode Particular. This is great for burning off logo’s, text or even 3d renders. The color and motion of the effect can be changed easily as well as the wipe angle thanks to handy global wipe control we will construct. Enjoy!

Thanks for all the kind comments guys. I really appreciate it :)

tvandang – To answer your question, yes you could create something similar with my effect, however form is probably a better choice in this instance. P.S – That video you linked to was creepy!

I’ll try to get another tut out before xmas, I’m working on a logo transformation effect. Check out the WIP here -> http://www.vimeo.com/17317485

    Cheers.

i can’t wait to start selling rehashed video copilot tutorials to aetuts for big money.

    ie: http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/disintegration/

where are the editors who are supposed to be catching and not green lighting this crap? where’s the originality that used to be here on aetuts?

  10. John says:

Funny all you guys are mentioning the Video Copilot thing. I posted a similar comment and it was removed. I’m glad that other comments got accepted because these copy/paste tuts are not cool.

Before you assume I’ve ripped of the aforementioned tutorial, how about you watch the one I’ve published. The workflow and creation method are completely different to AK’s. One MAJOR difference is I use “Particular” for the effect he doesn’t. Yep the final effect looks similar but at least have a look at how the effect was created before attacking people. Didn’t know it was illegal to use a linear wipe if AK used one in his tut.

Under the Additional Resources heading near the top there’s a link to VCP’s tutorial. It’s been there all along. The editors were well aware of that tutorial before this one was published.

I watched a lot of tutorials on AE. I know for a fact that Ben did not copy from anyone. His workflow is totally unique to himself.

Did you know Eran Stern, Aharon Rabinowitz, John Dickinson, Shoaib Khann and Andrew Kramer all have used linear wipe in the same manner because that is how it is used. Did they steal from each others? I don’t think so.

  20. TheRevTastic says:

Just wondering, on my comp there is a red X on it, I found out its the particular effect that is doing it, how would I go by removing it?

  21. Nathan says:

I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but when I add the wipe the keyframes arent already set and the wipe is going the wrong way! haha hopefully I can just do the disintegration right to left rather than left to right?

      Hey Nathan,

Easy fix… Your just adding the wrong linear wipe effect. You need to add the Linear Wipe under “Transitions – Wipes” That way it will add the keys for you and in the correct direction.

Also, you can have the effect animate on in any direction, It’s just choosing the look you like the most. Hope this helps.

  22. Rian says:

The Thin Wipe doesnt work with me as soon as i copy the wipe from the black to the white solid. i dont see that stripe that i see in your tut.

  23. Miles says:

My version of Particular doesn’t have the “Layer Emitter” option, is it out of date?

  24. vijay says:

hey ben can u make a tutorial as in I Robot opening scene, is same as this one, but only difference is its dispersing from all side. tht make it more realistic….. pls,………..

  25. darkfuture says:

    respect

  26. zynthax says:

The maximum particles/sec for my version of trapcode is only 200k. Is there a workaround for this?

  27. Justin says:

Awesome tutorial man! I’m brushing back up on my after effects and this was an awesome way to do it. Much appreciated, Thanks!

  28. Dorian says:

Great tutorial! I was wondering how you got it to render so quickly? I got a brand new Mac Book Pro, 8gb of ram, 2.2 quad core. All I did was turn on motion blur for the comp, and my computer basically is unusable. Also I rendered it out (5 second title) and it took about 2 1/2 hours. Then I realized I forgot to turn on motion blur! This is gonna take years to render! Thanks for the Tut!
