What the name of the music for the Preview ?
Its a song by Lily Allen.
I dare you to say the title in the comments mister editor.
Sounds like the piano from “Close to You” you know – Why do birds, suddenly appear??? blah blah blah.
Wouldn’t it be illegal to use that?
nice one i really like it
Dude I just saw the preview… I really like how you did it… awesome… but I have to say it looks pretty easy though… but maybe you did it in a more kick ass way, and im gonna learn a few more tricks, I dont know, youre the man… looking forward to watching the tutorial
Thanks
So good my jaw fell off.
hahah! good one!
Now that was funny….My fellow Liberty U! Man!!!

VERY VERY usefull THANKS!
This is a Awesome tutorial, time to go stand and take a picture of my self
I love the preview to!
I know this is a beginner series tutorial…and I generally love your stuff Adam. But as your first tutorial as the new editor? I don’t know. Looks like something you’d see on youtube. Just my opinion…but I was hoping you’d knock it out of the park on your first effort and this is more like a squib roller to the pitcher who flicks it to first for the easy out.
haha, I agree with ya… it’s wicked simple and I wasn’t sure if I even wanted to put it up, especially after the big “welcome”… but at the end of the day, I just figured I really wasn’t doing this to impress or one-up anybody… I just thought this was a funny little project that I would share. I have a few slightly cooler tuts that I’m working on… just wait, good things are coming.
Billy you must be a Creative Suite god or something because I swear I dont think Ive ever seen you say something constructive or helpful. Man, would I love to work with you! Id let you do all the work and Id just marvel at your majesty.
Cool tutorial Adam. Im positive someone learned something by watching it. I certainly did. I used to always do this sort of thing in flash, but this is a much cooler (and honestly more accessible) way of doing it. And congrats on the editor!
Then you aren’t paying attention Kyle. In a thread here lately I even posted all the tutorials here since Lloyd’s very first that have been awesome. Why don’t you pull your head out of your backside and go read some of those. Basically, I don’t care what you think and I will continue to comment logically on each tutorial’s merit. If you look above you even this tutorials creator agreed with me.
I would say a solid 85% of those who come here are way beyond the basic of AE. Not smart catoring to the 15% who aren’t.
Actually, it is smart to cater to the 15% because offering entry level tutorials will open up the doors of AE to new users and increase the overall user base. 85% of the people here may be beyond basics, but there is a big wide internet out there with lots of people looking to learn more about motion graphics, so yeah, if I had a site like this, I would very much like to cater to that audience and get them to be loyal to my site as they grew in skills.
Billy lad, i would kill to see any of your work….
currently i am debating if you are some jobless dude or a fourteen year old basement hermit….
i guess all i want to say is you could be a bit nicer since i have not seen any of your lovely work
It is more of an easier tutorial I would agree… but at the same time, it’s just something really fun to play around with. Nice job, I like this. It’s nice when someone just puts up simply just a fun tutorial once in awhile. Something you wouldn’t normally think of trying to do. Nice job new AE tuts editor.
Nice tut! I like the inclusion of German culture at the end. “Alles neu” ist gut auch.
You’re amazing Mr. Miller.. May be easier for some.. Again, you lost me at “hello”. Great job!!
Great tutorial. I think i saw something simpler in some training i bought a while back http://toolfarm.stores.yahoo.net/afefexsebu2.html its lesson 6.
Hope that helps
Hey its great fun man…… Good job Mr.Editor it’s nice to be light sometimes

Hi Thanks Great Tutorial
This Is Going To Come Very Handy
lol…the joker.
the tutorial is great, it’s kinda weird that there are so many dead people on the preview though
MJ rocks!!! nice! i like this effect a lot! thank you!.
now this is wat u call creativity

good job bro
keep up the good work
God bless
@Author:
could you add a text tutorial you talk pretty fast and i dont understand at all because my language is not english. thank you.
dude, it takes a lot to write out a text tutorial… just pause and replay parts…
Fare out dude
Jaw dropingly good!
(Can’t believe nobody said that yet!)
just watch this tut and my creative sense is tingling
It’s simple, but definitely worth-while! Great job!
Brush the haters off! This was a cool tutorial with some nice time saving tips for an effect I’m sure everyone has thought about trying.
Not a bad tutorial, despite what others say. I understand the desire to have higher experience level tuts, but if this site ONLY focused on advanced level tuts, then how are people supposed to learn? Gotta start somewhere…
Anyway, I would like to see a “making of” on the winning logo reveal vid– very stylish and cool!

You Know what im More interested in Learning?
That Preview Video…the Background music…when the video came to an end- you made it fade away in a kind of a Reverb\Echo effect. How did you do that?
its so annoying to create a loop out of an already made song, and having to cut it so harsh, you can hear it doesnt end well. then, any tips please? :]
tnx!
Probably a pre-made sound he has, and he just placed it a little before the background sound ended.
Hey, Evan! :]
well, im pretty sure its not an end of a song. the guy took a whole song [of Lily Allen as he said], avoided the lyrics, and edited it so a loop was created. He had to cut it somehow, and you can definitely hear the final Echo [which i dont think appears on the original song].
Audio editing is one of the toughest problems for a person who deals only in Motion Graphics and AE. Yet, its something we all need, in order to compliment our projects and so people could be immersed in it.
Since no one really speaks of it, id thought id ask about how it was made :]
Nice little tutorial there, well done.
Just wondering about the music though. Don’t you have to pay PRS or ASCAP or someone like that to be able to use that on a web-site?
I appreciate this tutorial on many levels, as a beginner person into Motion Graphics I appreciate that I can catch a tutorial that is cool and does not rely on expensive ( albeit necessary ) plug ins from third parties. I think that you have done a great job on a beginner tutorial. I enjoy watching and doing the ones that don’t start off with ” download this plug in here ” only to find out that the plug in is costly ( sometimes as much as the stand alone program )
I also liked how you tied in a previous tutorial into the mix as well. Way to go!
Please do show some more ( at a good pace so you more advanced readers do not get discouraged ) of what this program has to offer straight out of the box.
And remember two rules I heard at the beginning
1) KISS everything ( keep it simple )
2) Always play to the lowest denominator
Thanks for taking the time to make this and I will enjoy reading more from the newest editor to the team.
Chris, thanks for you comment.
To editor
I love this site. I visit it regularly. I want ask a question can we post another guys tutorials in our style. such as andrew kramer, maltaannon, aharon rabinowitz and other AE guru. I think u will say no then why you allowed this tutorial.
Harry J Frank has been already show this type technique.
see
toolfarm AE Expressions Vol2 lesson no 6.
sorry 4 my poor English and if I did hurt any one please give excuse me
Hey, you’re right in that it would be unacceptable to post somebody else’s work as your own. So no, that wouldn’t work. As far as Harry J Frank, I got a comment on that earlier, not sure what he created because I haven’t seen it. From what I understand, his uses the same concept to explain an expression. If Harry feels like my explanation of this concept is too close for comfort, then he can contact me.
hey folks, does anybody know what software he use to capture this tut under windows, bcoz camtasia isnt able to capture 25 frames per second.
I just opened up Sony Vegas’ Capturing software with my webcam as the source video and did a screen capture of that.
땡큐…
Wish I could watch this tutorial on my iPhone!
It was fun, I liked it, good stuff, thank you
Haha great tutorial!!! Definitely gotta try this
would it be alright if i just go ahead and say “meh”?

at least three of these characters are dead
they’re all dead! every single one
Adam,
I’ve been trying to find a tutorial on this for a while now! Thank you so much for this excellent video! It was a lot of fun! I made a video of Obama singing Styx “Mr. Roboto” for a college project.
Once again thanks!!
U go way to FAST on the photoshop part which I feel is the essence of this tut, I am kinda new to photoshop and I could not follow a thing for the love of GOD!
I used this effect in a video I did about Charlie Sheen, and its was hilarious!
Thanks Adam for creating this tutorial, it saved my Azz~
Thanks buddy…
