brilliant! something i’ve been interested in re creating since i got my imac and watch that beautiful welcome video.

Although i foresee unhappiness at the fact that this uses cinema4D and not JUST aftereffects, but oh well, this is awesome

I used Cinema 4D just to kinda get closer to the real one, but you can pull out a decent one using After Effects with plugins like Boris Spline extruder. Also you can get the same result with any 3D app including blender.

Thank you John. Yea, I should have worked on the keyframes a little bit more.

    Really cool…

  • Hooper

    Wow John Dickinson is here!

    wow!

  • MovieMaker

It’s a nice effect, but couldn’t you have just done the text with the shatter effect in after effects?

    • http://www.gutsblow.com/ Satya Meka
      Author

I tried using it, but the quality isn’t matchable at all since the anti-aliasing was bad and no proper animation controls.

  • bigbang

    Nice Work !…

  • f1a5h84ck

Thank you for the tut, Satya. But it seems you are not so familiar with the Cinema 4D. A lot of “superfluous movements”… Thanks anyway.

  • J4de

    This is just incredible!
Absolutely fantastic work. You’re a fantastic teacher.
I’ve had c4d for two days now and this has taught me as much as all other tutorial combined.
    Kudos!

  • kinghang

    sir
your tutorial i can’t download it
    please tell me why
    thanks very much

  • Peter Somers

    Great technique!

Quick question: how did you do the ‘tail particles’ in your inbetween screens?
They appear to sorta build out of a little swooshy tail and then end as a glow sphere which gives it a nice extra touch.
    Done in Particular?

    • http://www.gutsblow.com/ Satya Meka
      Author

      Hey Peter,

It is a basic CC Particle World with Vector Blur applied to it.

  • Matt

Your flvs are huge!! Slow to stream such big files.
But I’m sure it’s a cool tut anyway.

  • Ak

massive tutorial but the way how cinema 4d moves is so painful to work with..since im more familiar with blender..good job none the less

    • http://www.gutsblow.com/ Satya Meka
      Author

Yes I agree. I don’t like the Camera Behavior in Cinema 4D.

  • Jerem

can we have the source files?

  • Mishig

Can anybody tell me where is the part 2? Please, help. Thanks

  • http://avapglobal.com/Vikash/index.html Vikash Verma

    Thx Really great tut :d

  • Greg

    Great tutorial…

    one question:
Wouldn’t it be easier if instead of creating so many extrude nurbs for each character could you drag all the paths into one nurb and click on Hieracrchical under the object tab?

    overall great piece!

  • Alex Hurst

can you provide the text animation please in the After effects format i have done it 3 times and have made errors on it. thx

  • Reeve24

Where’s the part 2 of your tutorial? i just stop on C4D and there’s no part 2.. or i will do it that by myself in Adobe After Effects? I just thought your tutorial is complete.. but thank you very much for such wonderful tutorial…
