    Thanks for this nice tut

  • Napster

your a little hate pcs hm ^^. But nice tut of corse

  • MathMan

I like the effect, is cool (but not awesone), but the tutorial is looooooong and sometimes booooring to dead! Man, more than a hour to explain a 20-minutes typo-motion? Really necesary? Speed up your “videotutorial-creator” skills, for God’s sake. I mean, I know is not easy and not everybody can be Andrew Kramer or someone like that, but cut-out or edit the shitty parts and move on!!

      Hi,

thanks for your comment. I always appreciate constructive critique and i’ll try to keep it shorter next time.
However I always try to encourage people to use the techniques and knowledge learnt in the tutorial in their own work/style but there will always be beginners and people how want to watch every single step to recreate this exact animation. So as a bottom line i would just ask you to skip the repeating parts.
      thanks for watching anyway

    No preview :| ?

    • Sudhir

For the preview, just stream the first 1min or so of the tutorial and you will see what it is you will be doing in the tutorial :).

The tutorial is great, can’t wait to start it. To be honest, long , boring or short. As long as i learn something from the tutorials then keep them coming and it is always appreciated. :D

  • Yonet

    Thank you.

  • el Fede

Totally agree with MathMan. its way to long.

  • And

Alexander you are great and thank you.
i suggest that you will make kynetic typography for advanced, it will be very cool!

  • Matt

Yeah, I always like tutorials for this kind of thing. But I agree with what was posted earlier. Way to long. To much rambling. I don’t understand why people don’t go and edit their tutorials after they’ve recorded them to tighten things up a bit.

I know you want to make it easier for beginners, but a lot of the rambling i don’t think would be beneficial to anyone.

That being said, it was a nice tutorial in terms of what you were showing us. You obviously have a lot of skill and like your style of graphics a lot. Thanks for making it and please keep em coming. And thanks for showing us where you get fonts/textures and stuff

    A preview would be nice

Thanks for the awesome tutorial! I’ve been looking for something like this for weeks!
I understand the length of the video, and I watch it fully.
The explanation is perfect! I’ve taken all my doubts about kinetic typography with this video..

    Thanks again,
    Bruno.

wow…you ungrateful bastards complaining about the length of a tutorial.

if you’re all so critical why don’t you start your own tutorial website? the author clearly has a passion for helping other people so why don’t you go back to trolling youtube videos.

ps. thanks for all the tutorials, they are very helpful for those of us interested in learning new things!

Your telling me you set your bounce effect by creating keyframes? There has to be a bounce tween for this.

Also, you should say command, not C M D, come on man!!!

Alexander, soberb, excelente tutorial. I really liked the length because you teached everything with all the details. I learned many interesting things with this tutorials. Keep it up with this amazing job. Sorry for my English. Greetings from Brazil.

Great tutorial. This site has taught me so much about making these.
I recently made one for my company which you can check out here http://www.liquidproductions.co.uk/our-portfolio (its on the front page)
Would love to know what you think about it.

I even wrote a blog about it here http://www.liquidproductions.co.uk/1268/typography-animation

      Hi Matt,

thanks for the kind words. Your animation looks pretty good, only the camera movement is a little too heavy for my taste. But that depends on the taste :)

    Great tutorial! Thank you.

Hiya! I tried the tutorial (but I’m still halfway through the vid), instead of your vertical bars I made horizontal ones. However, problem comes when I duplicate the layers (bars, floating bars and text) to the other side. Some of the position is disfigured. Any idea how? (Link Below)

    Image:http://i52.tinypic.com/ma8oxl.png

As you can see, the floating bars are already there when it isn’t time for them to “float”. How do I fix that?

  • http://magicoficecream.wordpress.com Ben

After some painstakingly 5 days, I managed to finished your tutorial. I read that you like criticisms. I just suggest that (1) Don’t shout on your tutorial (2) Don’t slam the keyboard (3) Rehearse your tutorial (4) Don’t make the details as near perfection, say the values since you hop back and forth just to get that look. Just teach the concept. (5) Perhaps record on a slightly smaller screen. Its too hard to make out of what’s happening except the composition panel (6) Make an outline of your tutorial (7) Be brief as possible.

But rest assured, I learned many things on your tutorial. Thanks again for this!

Hey thanks for watching the Tutorial! I’m pleased that, in the end, it helped you.
      To answer all your suggestions:
      (1) I did not shout, but i’m sorry for any missing audio level compensation. This issue was fixed in my newer tutorial.
(2)I did not slam the keyboard. Furthermore I use a microphone shock mount
(3)Although i did go through some of what i wanted to say there’s too much rambling in this one. I hope it got better in my newer Tutorials since I tried to avoid it when recording them ;)
      (4) You’re right, thanks for the suggestions. Future Tutorials will be more focused on the concept, but reading your first comment there’s also evidence that just teaching the concept did not work perfectly for you, did it?
      (5) I’m sorry for that. I watched my Tutorials on my 13″ notebook and it worked ok for me. Also as you may know i create videohive templates and do real client work. Overall i’ll probably not purchase a smaller display just for recording tutorials, sorry.
(6 & 7) Yes and no. I don’t think that a 40min Tutorial consisting of just saying the values and exactly what I do would be easier to watch. In my opinion the perfect way is somewhere in between.

thanks again for watching and I hope i was able to clear some of your questions / thoughts.
      regards

    Thanks again. :)

I can’t download the tutorial, link doesn’t work, why? :(

  • Ginger Sanders

Thanks so much for the post, Alexander. I’m really glad that someone made an explainer video to help me make this effect. It looks really cool, and I can’t wait to try it out on my own projects.

  • amir

Can I use ready made infographics like from visualy or other software to animate it with fluid motion? If not how do I create the animated parts?

  • Melody Hill

Besides AE what other programmes do you need?

    • Melody Hill

Is it okay if its not the latest version of AE cause I cannot afford.

I’m seeing that there is a lot of search around ‘kinetic typography maker’. You’ll be surprised of how many people think that kinetic typography is an ‘easy’ animation. it isn’t!! If you want it done right, you gotta learn AE.
