  3. Abojung's Mom says:

    Third

    • Abojung says:

XD,,u went through all the pain of making a new account just to write that…Grow up kid…and by the way, you werent the first XD..punk!

  4. Fabsen says:

    How is this song called?

  5. Minako says:

That’s a really cute guy on the vid :-D

  6. Vag says:

You want 9$ for a simple particle emitter with a custom particle of a (really basic) butterfly animation?

Sorry but I personally think you need something way more advanced than this. Just my opinion, no offense

    • John says:

I agree. This Tuts+ content is basic and has no depth.

      • Topher Welsh says:

whoa whoa whoa… hold on… are you guys even Plus members? And have you even watched the tutorial if you are?

Don’t knock it till you try it. THAT’s my opinion. I haven’t watched it, cuz I have to go to work, but I’ll hit it up later… nice job on the commentary and stuff Adam!

      • John says:

        Hi Topher,

        Thank you for your opinion.
I don’t need to watch all of it to know that it’s basic. Considering many Websites offer advanced tutorials for free, I would expect the “private” tutorials to have that little extra depth and attention to detail.

A point light with a few particle systems linked to them that emit animated butterflies isn’t my definition of advanced. And as for being visually polished… well… anyways.

I hope I made my opinion a little more clear. No offense to anyone. I realize that there is time invested in this, but I’m just saying that there are many more advanced and polished tutorials for free and I think everyone knows it.

        Have a good day.

    • Richard Williams says:

No, they are asking for $9 for access to the entire TUTS+ network. I get more than that value monthly from the PSTUTS+ alone. And like Topher said, “Don’t poo-poo it until you’ve actually tried it.”

  7. Peter says:

No offense but Harry J. Frank from graymachine.com have something more useful than this one >>> http://www.graymachine.com/2009/04/after-effects-expressions/ <<< Enjoy and say thanks to Frank!

  8. Wesley says:

No one is saying that this is a bad tutorial, the final effect looks great, we are just saying this tutorial is not the “plus” kind.

  9. john says:

it wont let me download the full tut video

  10. IANH - BR says:

i think the plus tutorials is only for top tuts.
this tut is simples, but’s good.
    the song helps a lot!

  11. f1a5h84ck says:

How much have you paid for this tut? I’m really interested, guys.

Hmm… these comments are a little disheartening. I guess I’m just confused how some of you are viewing this site. With this tutorial specifically, the goal certainly wasn’t to be groundbreaking with a revolutionary animation… but rather to show some helpful tips on how to save you time.

As for it’s “Plus-ness”, you can see that I labeled it as Intermediate. I spent a lot of hours trying to present this content clearly and quickly as to not waste people’s time… believe me when I say that our goal is not to steal your money… I dunno, I guess I’m just a little disappointing. For those who actually watch the tutorial, I hope you find something helpful.

    • Rory says:

agree with this. He’s showing you how to implement a technique, not spoonfeeding you your own personal project.

Anyone who complains about $9 for 30 days needs to get their head checked…or better yet, stop using Daddys credit card.

No “professional” would complain about that price…ever.

    • Rick says:

      Hello Adam,

I believe that no matter what you put up as a tutorial, or how difficult it may be perceived, there will always be those who complaint about “something” (Whether it be the content, video player, $9 per month, etc.). These individuals may spend $9 in energy drinks in a single week and find value in doing so. Go figure…

As others have stated before, those who truly understand the value of your efforts thank you. Do keep them coming…

  13. mvav says:

i tried the tuts plus membership 1 time. some good stuff. Not sure this single one would be a reason to re-up membership for another month. It is a pretty cool butterfly effect. Only grip i had with the tutorials was a few of the tuts didn’t have project files and at least one required purchasing a plug-in from the guys site.

But on the other hand while writing this i am thinking of a buddies indie vampire film (yes another one of the thousands) and it would be cool to make the butterflies into bats. If he wants it then yes i will re-up for this single tut.

  14. Max says:

It’s only $9 a month, that’s nothing. Even if you’re strapped for cash $9 isn’t much. Stop whinging. And yes – I have a plus account.

  15. titan says:

i think the color of the butterflys don´t match to the scene
erverythink is dark and the logo is purple and u came up with brown
butterflys xD but the animation is good…
    thanx anyway

  16. Richard says:

Where is the tutorial? I’m logged on as a + member, gone to the link on the members’ page and can download the project files – but can’t find the tutorial. “Read tutorial” just tells me to go back to the member page….

I used to be able to open + tutorials straight from the emails.

A paid service should be easier to use.

    Thanks

  17. I can put this to other uses, learn from it and replace the butterflies with something else, nice tut,

    thanks

  18. William Cannavaro says:

That tuto will be soon over the net …free…

  19. New and only advanced tips seekers! kindly hunt somewhere else. This site is seen by lots of other people also who are in their initial stage of learning and these kind of tips can be really helpful for them. Not everybody can be pleased.
    Adam,great work!

  20. Billy says:

I don’t even bother posting comments to 99% of the tutorials around here anymore. They are all basic. Nothing new is ever presented. I like Adam. I have liked his stuff in the past, but I had to chuckle when I saw that a butterfly tutorial was a “plus” tutorial. There are so many of those out there. I can’t believe anyone would sign up to tutsplus thinking they are going to get anything valuable for AE. Good stuff for PS and some other stuff, but the AE stuff is weak…weak…weak. This site has gone downhill so fast over the past year. Pretty scary…and sad.

  21. Robert says:

I don’t see the video file to view this tutorial. when I log in all i get are the project files and when I click read tutorial. It brings me to tut preview and tutorial sneak peak?

So how do I view this tutorial. I am a member and I did log in.

  22. Nazareth says:

    good job!!!!!!!!!

  23. irene says:

I can not get the Source Files!
When clicking on the ‘download the ZIP file for this tutorial’ I just receive the video!!!
    Where is the project file???
