Thanks for the tutorial! The files cannot be opened on a Mac with AFX CS5. I’ve tried both .aep files in the folder.

    Can you fix this?

Hey Zach, there are two types of files: CS5.5 & CS6

But as many people still using older versions of After Effects I’ll try to sort it out.

      Hi Zach,

You could try to use After Effects XML project file known as .aepx . I am not 100% sure, but this should be compatible backwards with older After Effects versions. Do not forget to re-link project files after opening .aepx project file. Hope this will help.

excellent tutorial, but I have a problem, I use Adobe After Effects CS4, it will be possible for you to send these files to the previous version of after effects? I would greatly appreciate it. ;)

Had to sort it out. Most I could do was to save as CS5 version.
Here is the link to CS5 project file: http://goo.gl/98Ils

Hopefully you will be able to use it. ;)

      P.S.: don’t forget to re-link layers.

We posted a similar tutorial a couple years ago, but it wasn’t as user friendly… so this is essentially an updated version of the same effect.

    Hi,

Looks like you’ve done a great job here! I would love to know if the same could be done with video content instead of numbers?

    Thanks so much,

Does anyone know of an expression or script that can be used to drive the animation so that It doesn’t have to be done by hand? Thanks!

I’m getting jagged edges when I make the comp collapse. Is there any way to avoid this?

See image below (left flap is collapsed, right flap not):
