This tutorial covers the creation of a space-like si-fi title sequence from scratch. Michael shows us how you can easily create a visually interesting and impressive title animation with some simple title cards and text animation. The tutorial uses the Twitch plugin from Video Copilot, though a similar effect could be obtained by manual keyframing.

Tutorial

Requirement: Video Copilot Twitch Plugin (download here)
The effect can also be achieved without this plugin by manually keyframing the effect.

Downloading .torrent files

We prefer torrents because they dramatically reduce bandwidth costs for us. You can use a client like BitTorrent (PC) or Transmission (Mac OS X). Seeding tutorials helps us save on bandwidth costs, which means a bigger budget left over for more great tuts!

Alternatively, if you don’t want to or can’t install a bitTorrent client on your machine you can download the torrent using bitlet.org (a web-based client) by clicking

Whoa… This looks so cool. It somehow reminded me of Fringe the TV series… I’ve been trying to design a logo animation somewhat like this incorporating the textual 3D effects in my logo but it looked off somehow especially the proportions of it. Finally, I decided to use the professional design services of an online logo design site instead (http://www.logodesignstation.com) and got the design I wanted at an affordable price and fast too, within 24 hours. I did provide this link for reference and inspiration to my designer as I liked how yours look. I’m not going to design anything without any professional help anytime soon although it’s fun. :) Your site is awesome, by the way. And the effect is explosive!

Great tutorial! REALLY! .. but I have one single question.. at 11:17, did you say “rape racket”? I’m a beginner, and your accent is kind of making it a little harder for me to understand (sometimes). and I’m kind of stuck at 11:17, because i don’t know what you’re talking about :( please help – ASAP. <3

Thanks, MUCH appreciated, it looks great and i’m trying to mimic it and its kinda working. It’d be even more awesome if we could get the project files, but ok you are forcing us to learn. What i find disturbing is that your screen is too large, so that you have to look at the tut fullscreen in order to see what you are doing. Maybe se your screen to 800×600 so that we can view it windowed? Thanks again, you’re the man.
