    Very Nice

  5. Pat Reilly says:

Very Cool thank you but Lloyd, what’s up with your site? AESCRIPTS.com
I get an Internal Server Error??

  6. An eager Brit says:

That was sweet!, just started delving into AE and am lovin these, keep em coming.

  7. illd says:

    Hi Lloyd,
thanks for giving all your AE secrets away ;)
Theres one thing that make me wonder: Although you animate the mask of the logo through the animation – the logo is stil seen all the time. I mean its mostly black, but I can see that black (masked) part . Normally, If I mask (subtract) out something it should be transparent, right? But you made it somehow black instead. How you did that? Why is the Mask not fully transparent at some parts ?

    thank you

  9. mike says:

I’m not sure but could’nt you parent the Front Spot Lights point of interest to the emitters position? Just a thought, Great tut.

@pat – unfortunately aescripts is starting to get more traffic than it can handle, but i’ve increased its hosting capacity so hopefully it will be fine from now forward.

@illd – because the obscuration layer in particular doesn’t take the mask into consideration. In this particular case it wasn’t a big deal because the whole animation is over black but otherwise it might have been a limitation.

@mike – Yep, you could do that as well. One thing that I love about AE is that there are so many ways to approach a problem.

thanks for this one as well, it is a great tutorial and you have managed to make math fun :)

when you were discussing your throttle preset, I noticed you had multiprocessing turned off. Why is this? isn’t it better/quicker to leave that turned on? Could you maybe lay down some tips on how to get the most out of our machines? I called Adobe’s After Effects Support and they, surprisingly did not really know. I put 18 gigs of Ram in my computer and have dual quad core processors, because I know AE needs a minimum of 2 gigs per processor to fully take advantage of multiprocessing. isn’t okay to leave it on all the time? any input, feed back or snappy one liners you can offer on this is greatly appreciated.

    great tutorial

  14. giovanni says:

one thing i would like is the custom particle that you made the ones I made looks like crap.

  15. Author

@crumpy – the way MP works is AE fires 8 background instances of the aerender application and that takes some time, so the reason I turn it on and off is that for simple quick rendering like I was getting with particular using the sphere particle it actually works faster with MP off. Hence why I wrote Throttle to be able to easily turn it on and off. For more expensive renders and making sure you have enough ram, which you do, then turn on MP.

@giovanni – keep practicing! That’s how I got mine to look good

  23. Didier says:

thanks you a lot man, really…
now i use math in my animations and the results are great and fast!!!
it boosted up my production speed and allows me to animate things that was only in my wishes.

    cheers from Italy.

  24. Didier says:

Nice tutorial, however messed up when it came to the stroke thing with the brush, I used a mouse and it didn’t look good at all, got really annoyed because I really wanted to try some stuff out with this tut. Does anyone think they can upload the project file??

Is the video tutorial down? It worked a couple minutes ago. There is a lock shown on the video player and the HD is greyed out (tried 2 separate computers).

Thanks for the tutorial and all of the grest tips. I learned a lot, and now I´m a little bit curious about math :)

  36. Javier says:

Hi, it lost the tint and the shine of the particles when exporting to any video format, what could be? i tried the HDR compander filter to fix it, but looks the same, maybe it’s related wiht the 8-16 bit color warning?

  37. dalia says:

    Thanks for the tutorial

  38. dimas says:

    excelent..

  39. Pr1z says:

    Awesome!!

Did you try it with trapcode particlar V2?
I’m testing it, but I have a problem when I personalize the particule….
    Nnothing appear.
    Have you got an idea?

    Thx

  40. Deejay Forte says:

I’ve been trying to export this correctly but I can’t seem too. Every time I export it, It renders as (at least it looks like it) as 8bpc instead of 32bpc. The “sexyness” isn’t glowing as it does in AE. Any ideas? What should I be exporting this as? .mov?

  41. Michael says:

    whew! found it… :-0

  42. Joshua says:

I have a question. Why is it hardly visible when I export the movie? It looks way different than the one I render inside AE.

  43. Mathieu Marengere says:

Hey this tutorial is GREAT ! :) The only thing is that when I want to change the particle type to Custom, I don’t see anything called custom :( I don’t know why. Can you please help me with that? Thanks a lot and keep the good work ! :D

  44. Bill says:

If I join AETUTS Premium, can I download a file that allows me to finish making this intro even though I don’t have Particular? Like an idiot, I made an entire video only to figure out that there’s a watermark when you render it if you’re only doing a trial of Particular…
