    first! and i used fireshot to screen capture the entire thing instead of a million diff captures.

      agreed, there’s also screengrab that does the same thing.

      also i’m pretty sure there’s a countdown expression that could be tweaked to help with the numbers changing as the song goes up the chart, instead of making a text layer for each #.

      aside from that small stuff, good tut.

        yea, it would be much better to have it start at a number, and then just subtract the frame number. the way the tutorial does it is kind of ridiculous, and definitely not a good workflow or habit to get into. that part should have been fixed before this tutorial was posted…. people come here to learn, and learning bad practices is bad.

        off the top of my head:

        t=30-timetoframes(time);

        of course, that works if your countdown starts at 0. precomping the layer should allow you to place it anywhere. i dont have AE installed on this comp to try it, but that should work. or at least be a starting point =]

    Awesome Tut and deff something I will use in future projects but as has already been pointed out things such as the screen grab and the number changing should have been fixed… seriously its something as small as changing the numbers that will put me off doing this project as that alone could take an hour.

    Besides that this is a great tut and like I said something I will use if I can figure out how to change the numbers more effectivally

    Brilliant, the idea of moving the whole chart full length and re-positioning the plate by a few pixels really makes for a professional end result.

    I must say though, when I saw you layer the countdown numbers and alter them by hand, I really thought there could be a better alternative. So I’m back here 20 minutes after watching your tutorial to say, I opened up AE and had a look…

    Using a pickwhipped slider and the Math.round expression I accomplished the same end result, and you could have taught the method to us in less time than it took to set up all those layers. Shame on you…

    But seriously, great stuff man, keep em coming
