Final Product What You'll Be Creating

Using only the tools in After Effects, you will learn how to use a variety of techniques to create this super-hip, dance-style animation with realistic lighting effects, which could be used for a nightclub, salon, or similar client.
I hope you enjoy this new AE Plus tutorial created specifically for Premium members.

Some techniques covered in this tutorial will be:

  • animating text to audio without converting audio to keyframes
  • using the principle of “anticipation” to liven up your animation
  • using light transmission to create light “gels”
  • adjusting light properties to achieve realistic effects

Doesn’t look worth the price of admission…

What are you complaining about? What can you buy for 9$ nowadays??!

Don’t think that you buy this particular tutorial for 9$. You support the whole tuts+ network with it, including the awesome free tuts. Do you think the creators of this site don’t deserve this bargain price? Then get the f*ck off from here, and learn using After Effects by yourself.

Sorry for being so indignant but I hate that everyone wants everything for free, not seeing how much work is to maintain a such excellent site. 9$… If it would be 50 for a month, I should understand you, guys, but NINE BUCKS??? I’m from a country where the average salary is 600$a month, and I don’t complain for that price. This is cheap. For 9$ a month i can buy a printed magazine which may be used for toilet paper, but tuts+ worths it. I don’t think that I could use this tutorial, but I buy a plus account today, just to show my support. Keep up the great work, AEtuts+!!!

    • LFD says:

Agreed. Come on, aetuts!!! How dare you charge for your work?

Every freeloader with a pirated copy of AE is entitled to have the working professionals teach us how to do what they do, at no cost, so that one day we can oversaturate the market!!

We don’t actually care enough about learning this profession to actually PAY for anything! Please!

First of all – please stop whining and moaning about the 9$ a month for FULL access to ALL plus content. Go buy a HappyMeal instead if you are not interested.

@Bryan – good tutorial, nice pace and timing and a confident voice to go along. Cheers. Spread the love.

  6. I guess I’m supposed to go buy a Happy Meal too.

  7. illd says:

Congratulations to Bryan, looks like a very interesting concept – now I am really thinking about joining AE Tuts plus.

    Keep it going Bryan!

    Interesting video..

  9. i used to think that ae.tuts was a great way to learn because many peopla cant afford education in the states..

but now this during the holidays that’s kind off cheap…

  10. EUGENE says:

    NONSENSE

  11. Dave says:

Im not hating on the tutorial, didn’t see it, but I am just curious as to what makes a regular tutorial and what makes one a plus?

    • Staff

Plus Tutorials will show how to pull off higher end effects and/or will probably be presented by professionals in the field… If you watch this tut you’ll see the quality in the presentation….

      • ckRED says:

I guess all of Satya’s tuts should be ‘plus’ then, they’re way more innovative than this. Also, I really don’t care if the presenter is a professional or not. In fact I hate that argument.
Besides that, I love Aetuts and I think 9$ is well spent money for the plus membership…this tut is just not the best to promote it I think.

  12. sjoerd wijn says:

im gonna try it for 9 a month. thnx 4 making the tutorial, i hope ill learn something
    greetings sjoerd

  13. Kasper says:

Been a member too. Not anymore. But it was worth the price for sure! There are quite alot of tuts by now and you get acces to it all. Can’t see why 9$ is such a stretch.. After all.. what is AE? like 600$?

  14. jbo says:

i guess, i am one of the few that actually appreciates what aetuts does. if you don’t want to join, then don’t. but i would like to see how good your portfolio is

Tutorials here are made by professionals. For sure you will like to get pay for one of your working projects. With their help, tutorials, projects and open sources, one day you will be able to do exactly what they do. Until then … pay or find a different interest.

  16. Oliver says:

I don’t like the “plus” option much. I love what videocopilot is doing. Free and hi end tuts + if you want to support them you can buy one of the amazing products they offer (bought Twitch and Pro Scores = priceless). On the other hand: $9 is not much and I’ll probably wait till the tuts pile up and try it for 1 month eventually.

  17. Owen Thomas says:

what’s the dig with the double bass hits at the 3-4 second mark?

Other than that, I thought the video was cool. I’m most likely going to buy a months membership this week while I’m off school for the next 3-4 weeks.

This website is great and been an awesome learning resource tool for me over the last 6 months.

  20. Zak says:
