Final Product What You'll Be Creating

Today we’ll be recreating the title style from the movie The Hobbit. Using Cinema 4d, we’ll obtain the chisel beveled edge of the letters in the logo. We’ll then bring it into AE using Element 3D to apply color correction, background clouds, and add the lens flare. One key part of this tut is that we’ll learn how to get different animations for each letter with only one c4d file in Element 3d.

At the end of this tutorial, you can learn how to draw and animate your own title with Element 3d inside After Effects. The actual example of The Hobbit movie title is just for training purposes and is not to be used in a final project without permission from the original creators.

“Lens FLAR” :)) Alright… well, do you have permissions from the original owners?

Mate, I like seeing 3d meets AE tuts as much as anyone, but when you get results like that it makes me question the point. Do you see them as so successful that you feel doing one for each block buster is the way to go? I think I’d feel like I’ve gained something if you’d do a tutorial about making your own font in 3D(actually modeled), and then using it with element… Sorry mate, it’s not doing anything for me, and to those that will reply calling me a dick I will say: I’m just stating this as I see it, he’s done a lot more tutorials, most of which use the same techniques, I’d like to see something actually useful from a professional stand point.

      Dear Xandercorp,
To be or not to be, that is the problem!
More coffee, or less coffee, sorry this is another problem.
Something more complex, it is already in planning and your expectations will not be betrayed.
But, I want to remind you that not always the professional result must necessarily be complex.
Is the idea or the concept design of the animation that will win the obscurity of a cold heart.
If one day you are lucky enough to tame the fire of creativity, one day you will not need to hide behind the avatar of “Xandercorp”, but I’ll have the fortune to know your real name.

        Good Shakespear, brah. :-)

Its a bit repetitive with these movie titles. But If you are starting to learn AE after having seen the Hobbit it might be a fun way to start.

May God be praised, bravo! In fact, the community aetuts is renewed with new members who want to learn with intermediate-advanced techniques. This is a good starting point. ;)

  • Johnny

I used to get excited for another Hollywood movie title design but it has lost its exclusiveness with the same repetetive “techniques” in every single tutorial. Besides that: the final images tends to loose its similarity with the original more and more…

This just shows that you have not seen and listened carefully the tutorial.
You you’re focused only on the final impact, but not on the content.
Do you think I would have trouble getting a photorealistic result.
But this is not the my purpose of this tutorial.
If I had used element 3d with a very complex texture of sedimentary rock.
Many newbie users they would not be able to handle the file into the main
precomp and in the final rendering. Not everyone has computers with
      graphics cards high-performance.
So, give space to all users to create this title animation is the purpose of this tutorial.
If you have an appropriate graphics card to work with Element 3d, I’m happy for you.
Try with a more detailed textures with the implementation of AO and the new glow effect.
You’ll see that result, the rock letters will come out from your screen.

      Joke! Good experimentation ;)

It’d be one thing if those who don’t have a video card, are simply shit out of luck. BUT all of your tuts use the same technique with the same results. I gotta be honest, I was very disappointed with the result. If you implemented the detailed textures within the tutorial, now THAT would’ve been pretty cool.

Please make a tutorial on how you do the font in illustrator.

In many guys told me the same thing, the my simply advice is to update only the graphics card with a model suited to your availability.
Of course must be compatible with Element 3D.
Check the graphic cards list, before make purchases.

Hey Antonio, just a little suggestion, please do the following tutorials :)))

”Brave” – It would be very interesting to learn how we can make the inner part of the text like this.
“COWBOYS & ALIENS” it’s a pretty awesome title!
    “Immortals” It’s awesome as well!

In all honesty… these are just too bland and simply not professional (personal opinion but I get the feeling many here would agree), along with the instructors arrogance in his posts… it’s turning me off tremendously. I used to go here often, but seeing copy cat tutorials on some other artist’s work in the industry isn’t gaining anything. Doing something original with new techniques each time, now that’s a worthwhile tutorial if I may say so.
