In today’s tutorial, we’ll tackle The Green Hornet title animation. We’ll start in Cinema 4d where we’ll create and animate the logo, lights and materials. From there, we’ll jump over into After Effects to create the background and stylize our work to complete the animation.

    Enough is enough! What is all this? Every time there is an extruded 3d text and compositing in After Effects! Who needs this?

      This tutorial was voted Hollywood Movie in Title 2 poll, obviously there are many users who want to see and learn. Nobody forces you to see this tutorial. Cheers

      I need his tutorials. I learned all my basic knowledge about CINEMA 4D strictly from him and GRAYSCALE GORILLA. I really enjoy his techniques. There is more out there than just AE. CINEMA 4D and AE work together seamlessly. Just beautiful. Thanks Mr. Cerri!!!

      Dude your version looks legit, so does the authors but yours is very nice. Maybe that means you need to try one for aetuts if you can speak english.

      This tutorial is a review of the trailer v1. is not like the original, the camera positioning, and application of lens flare are different, but it’s however a good job. ;)

    Imma say this one more time: This is not useful or impressive… Build it in After Effects, if you get it even close to that look using JUST After Effects + AE Plug-ins, that will be an accomplishment, this… is… more or less an obvious result.

    I don’t want do use 2 programs to do 1 thing, it’s unefficient, even for a logo intro. A lot of things can be done in after effects as well as far as text is concerned, look at that ShapeShifter tut series, they made a pretty decent look using just AE + ShapeShifter, and the results were 3d looking text. Then again, use the 3D extruder script, you can do stuff with that one as well and that one’s even cheaper…

    Bottom line is… remember this is AE Tuts not Cg Tuts.

      In the working world of Motion Graphics, the principle is:
      Get a perfect result, with any technical and software!
      is more than a year that were posted on aetuts,
      tutorials with the use and integration of various software 3d.

    I have to say I agree, something like this could easily be done with just After Effects. You don’t need any third party plugins at all, just the built in tools. The end result is nice, just no need for C4d on this one.

      Hi Ben
      I don’t agree with what you say, your technique, 3D chrome is good to get some types of animations. In this case, if you want to do only with after effects, I recommend the plugin Shapefilter or 3d zaxwerks invigorator, for get a better result for sky map reflections and realistic shadows.

        Hey Mate,

        I’m strictly talking about this title example, there are no reflections or tough shadows etc. in this animation to require SS AE or ZW.

        Like I said the end result it nice, don’t get upset mate ;)

      In the small youtube format video, not seen, moreover, the sequence is very fast.
      But if you watch the HD version, you will notice better the bevel highlights
      and shadows inside on the letters.

    Great tutorial, I really enjoyed it!

    As for everyone claiming it’s nothing impressive/use After Effects only, that’s clearly not the point. In the business, you’re trying to get the best looking results in the most comfortable environment. Maybe you prefer everything in AE and work better that way, that’s great! Everyone is different and maybe this guy wants to use Cinema 4D instead because he knows how to achieve better results with it. Maybe he’s primarily a Cinema 4D user, maybe he’s a 3D guy, who knows. Try to enjoy the tutorial, if you want it all done in AE, then do so and just watch the AE portion of the tutorial :)

    I actually like the tutorial, very easy to follow. also the robo voice used to annoy me however i now prefer it to the andrew kramer wannabees with their dumb jokes etc.

    @Strut i didnt mean Andrews jokes are dumb, he has good timing and his tangents are pretty funny however its when people try to copy him that it gets annoying. : )

      Dude, that’s like saying Andrew Kramer is the creator of humor, if you have your mind made up without even considering another author you will most likely miss out. The first time I came in contact with tutorials they were a basic CD collection, and that guy wasn’t the funniest person alive but had some decent jokes once in a while, I appreciated him for teaching me how to work in AE and entertaining me as best he could. Andrew Kramer is the second guy I came in contact with and while, sure he was funnier, it won’t make me appreciate the first guy any less…

      @naftolimann No, I read you right… as I said, come to think of it, I find Andrew Kramer annoying. He is not funny, at least not to me. As Xandercorp pointed out… Kramer was even worse when he first started doing tuts. . I think Kramer is a fraud and I am surprised that more people do not see through him. Not my cup of tea. Personally, I am ready for some fresh ideas and some new blood. I think we should encourage newbies.

    These title-series started as a great idea, and the TRON, Inception, and similar tutorials were great. But the last 15 are just really bad. I admire your enthusiasm and dedication, but these are no longer tutorials. Sorry.

      if you had really learned something from my tutorials,
      the risult of your experimental work would not have this.
      First of all, respect for all Aetuts authors.
      Second, the recognition and not forget that you have learned.
      Third, give space to new users, who like you they approach to
      the world of the motion graphics with simple tutorial like this.
      Finally, before expressing an opinion as an expert,
      you make a little practice, then we’ll talk.

    this was just awesome and learnt a hell lot of things green hornet has an wesome title and this was just the twin…

    also i wold request you to make the wrath of the titans (lava logo) to be remade with the help of 3d max or maya

    i am new to cinema 4d but would love if u make it in cinema 4d also…
