Final Product What You'll Be Creating

Today we’ll continue the “Hollywood Movie Title” series. We’re going to be looking at the animation style of movie “Real Steel”. At the end of this tutorial, you can learn how to draw and animate your own title with this fabulous style. The first part will be in Cinema 4D R13. We will make the letters logo, with this incredible bevel. We will then continue in After Effects with the styling of the incandescent reveal and the heat haze effect. The actual example of the real movie title is just for training purposes and is not to be used in a final project without permission from the original creators.

Love the tutorial, hate C4D. This one was better for achieving the inner bit, but previous are still a no-go for me, as I don’t care to learn yet another 3D program on top of what I already know.

      Hi Jay
You can always apply the same steps with your favorite 3d program
      and obtain a similar result.

      Good luck

  • don

have to agree with the above…I’m sure C4d is a wonderful program but would prefer to see the focus on AE

  • David

    I agree too.

You can do a lot of 3d with Photoshop, which most people who have AE are familiar with. You can also do 3d w/in AE, although not as good as C4D, most likely.

However, I’m not up to learning another program right now. I’d like more focus on AE. Even with some plug in’s is okay(e.g. Red Giant).

Creative Cow does a lot better at focusing on AE in their AE tuts section.

      Very strange Don,
in many of my tutorials, In AE, I put a lot operations with different plugin,
backgrounds, particle systems, fractal noise, and much more.
If you look carefully, you will find many techniques.

I ask you kindly not to compare aetuts with creative cow.
In respect of all those working to make aetuts always at the top.

      Thanks ;)

  • Jhon

Thank’s Antonio you very very good man.. Good luck Antonio

Anyway, thanks for the luck, a little more never hurts ;)

Woooowww Dude :) Very good Antonio.

    Why files are disabled ?

  • Connor

Enjoyed the tutorial, thanks for making it!

To anyone who doesn’t use/like Cinema 4D: The techniques used in the tutorial aren’t necessarily C4D specific – a basic understanding of ANY 3D Application will be enough to follow along and get similar results.

And if you don’t use any 3D program, and want to create the effect entirely in AE, then go and do your own research into how to create the same effect in just AE alone – maybe share your findings with other people instead of criticising someone for showing us his particular workflows and methods.

    None-the-less, thanks again!

    Best wishes,
    Connor

  • Andrew

Thanks Antonio for all the work you put into this.

However I am fairly new to C4D and am stuck near the beginning. When I try to create my extruded text using Loft Nurbs, my polygons get all crossed up. It seems like the larger letter gets flipped along the Y axis causing the loft to create cross polygons. To fix this I have to rotate the bigger letter 180 degrees on the Y axis and move back into place. Any suggestions.

      Hi Andrew,
surely, you must make a “Reverse Sequence”, in the spline, which is crossed.
Then you can set the correct “Set Point First”.

      Good Work ;)

  • CoolChannelFilms

I just wanted to say that these are great tutorials. It’s not so much that I ‘learn’ from them as I get to acclimate myself to the groove of working between Cinema 4D and After Effects. Kind of like working out. I’ve learned proper form. But I can always use the repetition.

One series I would like to see tutorialized is Marvel’s DTV animated features (Ultimate Avengers, Thor: Tales of Asgard, etc.). They feature marvelously intricate motion graphics.

    Thanks

  • Micwil

Gee this is cool. Loved it great thanks

  • Scott

Can anyone suggest an alternative font that has been used successfully? Especially since the Real Steel font is not listed on the website as it’s implied in the video.

  • funnysummer

You are a good man! Thank you!
I can learn so many skills from your tutorials.
And beside the skills, the way to represent the theme and content is also inspire me.
The layout, the color, and the animation is important!
And for me, the ability (software creative )to represent one idea is less, so I think I should learn from the succesful work
to make me have more experience and then I can do it myself!

    Thank ayou again!

    Always support you !
