I had great intentions to put together a thorough recap of our recent Envato Chicago Meetup, but alas… real life takes a lot of time. Instead of just forgetting the idea all together, I figured you’d at least like to see a short montage I put together during our group meetings. So last night I had the good fortune to go hear Jon Landau speak at a local college. I knew he was the producer of Avatar, but that was about it. Little did I know how many successful projects he’s been a part of. He spoke on ethics in the film industry and how difficult it can be to make the right decision when money is on the line. I was quite impressed with both his ability and humility. I know this isn’t a tutorial and it might be a little random, but I just figured I’d share a few points he made in his talk that stood out to me.

I had the great fortune this year of attending the NABShow for the first time ever, and I couldn’t have had a better time. I got to meet a lot of the big names in the After Effects world, including a lot of my heroes and people that had a gigantic influence on all of our careers in the After Effects industry, as well as check out some of the new tech, and hot new products that got debuted this year on the show floor.
