15 Top International After Effects Tutorial Sites

The beauty of vfx and motion graphics is that you don’t need to speak english to be amazing at it. Our business is truly international. In this roundup we highlight 15 of the top international After Effects tutorial sites. The links are to the translated version via Google Translator. To Remove the translation just click the View original web page link in the top frame.

15 Top Foreign-Language Tutorial Websites

  • FRENCH – Mattrunks.com

Mattias lives in Paris and works in a production studio. Learning more and more each day, his work portrays how fast his skills grow, and the tutorials he produces showcases his innovative style. This website is by far one of my favorites on the list. Very Slick.

  • BULGARIAN – TripodBG

Stefan Surmabojov is the After Effects artist on this site, creating some truly stunning tutorials, such as their Galaxy and Energy Ball tutorials. They also have tutorials for Photoshop, 3ds Max, and Dreamweaver.

    Visit Website

  • BULGARIAN – PL/CV Design

Seeing as there isn’t an about section on this site, I don’t know much about them, but what I do know is they create some awesome looking graphics and vfx peices.

    Visit Website

  • ITALIAN – VideoMakers.net

VideoMakers.net’s Tutorials section collects tuts from all over the net, and has them listed for all different versions of After Effects. They have a ton of links here so make sure you check it out.

    Visit Website

  • SPANISH – Inerxia.net

Carlo Pico runs Inerxia.net which has a ton of great presets and tips for After Effects as well as Photoshop and Combustion.

    Visit Website

  • PORTUGUESE – Pixels Render

Another site that I don’t know much about but they have a bit of very useful tutorials. Check them out!

    Visit Website

  • SPANISH – EFECTOHD

This blog specializes in reporting on HD filmmaking, but along the way they started to produce tutorials for After Effects including a few on compositing and Vanishing Point.

    Visit Website

  • SPANISH – ProImagen7

This website has a ton of visual effects as well as motion graphics tutorials. This is a must-bookmark if you understand spanish.

    Visit Website

  • SPANISH – Xplorer Studio

Stephane Nicolle runs Xplorer Studio and writes all the tutorials for the site. There are a ton of written tutorials and maybe a few video tutorials along the way. Good thing about this site, is that most of the tutorials are written, therefore can be translated into any language.

    Visit Website

  • GERMAN – PSD-Tutorials.de

This site has a ton of tutorials, mostly on Photoshop, but they do have around 34 tutorials for After Effects divided into 4 categories: Effects, Animations, Basics, and Creating Objects.

    Visit Website

  • HEBREW – Eran Stern’s SternFX

Eran is one of the guys that runs the Creative Cow AE Podcast. His site has a section that translates to English as well as Hebrew. The Hebrew version has a couple of tutorials that the English doesn’t and vice versa.

    Visit Website

  • FRENCH – Thomas Hullin

This site deals with After Effects and 3ds Max, and is fairly new to the scene. You have to register to access the tutorials, but once you do you can stream them as well as download them directly.

    Visit Website

  • TURKISH – Leblebi

Another new site on the tutorial scene, Leblebi has 12 tutorials for After Effects and a few for Flash as well, if you are into that kinda thing.

    Visit Website

  • Adobe Resources

Adobe has one of the best resources for tutorials, search, and downloads available. Todd Kopriva has a page that has links to all of these in English, Japanese, French, Dutch, Spanish and Italian.

    Visit Website

  • Creative Cow

I actually just realized this… but you can translate the Creative Cow website into any language that you want. It kinda seems logical though, seeing as Creative COW is Creative Communities Of the World. All you have to do to translate is pick one of the flags on the header of the site.

  2. G2H says:

    videocopilot.net?

  3. user says:

“PL/CV Design” – it is not russian. may be bulgarian or serbian

  4. Max says:

    In French : http://www.cysworld.fr/

Very cool tutorials on After Effects & others as Fruityloops !

  5. Charley C. says:

No offense to your list, but I don’t think any of those sites carry the inspiration or knowledge that Video Copilot gave me as an After Effects beginner back when I first got the program a couple of years ago.

    • FEDFiLM says:

Yeah I completely agree. I don’t understand why its not at least on the top 15. This webiste really dissapoints me sometimes. especially with theyre vfx tutorials… motion graphics tuts are awesome though

      • Keisans says:

note: these are explicitly foreign language tutorials. video copilot (though awesome) is in english.

  6. srihari says:

no offence man. the list is incomplete without andrew kramer’s videocopilot.net

    • taneil says:

Yeah Andrew has some good tutorials but he’s not international rather all american blue besides that he messes up so much in his tutorials he’s rather boring now.

  7. kevin says:

VideoCopilot has to be there. maybe MotionWorks or Graymachine as well.

    • Topher Welsh says:
      Author

These are meant to be tutorials for those speaking languages OTHER than English. If you have seen any of my articles… you know I give major respect and props to Andrew, JD and Harry.

  8. inerxia says:

    Gracias Topher.
Y feliz After Effects para todos !

  9. Matt says:

The TITLE of the article suggests that the sites found here are run by AE artists OUTSIDE of the United States. Since Andrew Kramer (Video Copilot) is based in California, I do not think he qualifies.

  10. Priv says:

    Why isn’t videocopilot.net mentioned?

  11. kb10 says:

    eheh ! Mattrunks encore !
    Well done Elton :)

  12. Lirik says:

    hey videocopilot.net is the best

  13. Tripodbg.com is very useful for me.

Topher repeatetly said: These are meant to be tutorials for those speaking languages OTHER than English!

      Cool links thanks!

  16. RemingtonM says:

Whats the point to this article though? I’m not sure how its usefull, if all of the sites are different languages. It doesnt matter how good the tutorial is if its in Bulgarian.

    • Topher Welsh says:
      Author

Well the point is to benefit those who love this site, but don’t have english as their primary language, to have a few other outlets as well to go to, instead of having to translate english to whatever language is their own.

You can follow along the steps without audio if you want…

    • Rev65 says:

I love Mattias’s site — Mattrunks.com, and have picked up some great ideas and techniques watching his tuts even though they are in French. Although it can be a bit of a challenge at times, it’s still fun and worthwhile.

Thanks, Topher, for digging all of these up!

  17. ninjtso says:

  20. Stefan Stanev says:

As a bulgarian i can say that PL/CV Design is a bulgarian design.I think that this article is a good one because it shows that there are not only good tutorials coming only from the USA.But none the less my favourite is Video Copilet

  21. asdf says:

wow so many dumb people here
he said it thousand times, this list contain foreign non enlglish sites
    so stop whining

    • english speaking but not naive says:

      it is an absolute cracker

great list topher, i always wondered what else was out there in languages i do not understand.

  22. James Wicks says:

    Hey Toph,
    Great post.
But may I suggest that you change the word, ‘Foreign’ to something more inclusive.
Consider the root meaning of the word.
To someone living outside the U.S., we are considered Foreign.
A better word to use might be International.

Just a thought from one of your fans on the sidelines.

  23. Laura says:

I don´t undersand why people complain about “english” sites not being listed here. Non english sites are precisely the point of this post!!

Not everybody speaks english and there are very big communities around the world that also do design, motion, vfx…and they share their knowledge in other languajes. Some of these people will be very thankful to Topher Welsh for being aware of this and help them to find another sources, other than all this classics english sites we already know.

  24. Loay says:

I can’t see any Arabic site.
I can add this for those who interests :

But I didn´t knew these others, so you get 90% here ;)

  27. LFM says:

Pixel Render is a “Portuguese” not “Portugese” website….

  28. P. says:

When i read this comments about videocopilot and another english type sites i feel much more better as a novice in after effects.. If people are so dumb that they cannot understand the topic of this article it means that it will be more easy for me to learn much more faster then they are :) Thanks a lot for this sites. I’ve didn’t know about them. You did a great job ! And sorry for my english, it’s not my primary. ;’) But is enough to understand the tutorials as well as bulgarian or french ^^

  40. Chani says:

Hey wait a minute, I know whats happening – Andrew Kramer is posting over and over again in a shameless plug to his website!!

That is why there are so many posts here about it when this is clearly a post about international (NON-english) sites.

Nice try Andrew, you may have a fantastic site but you are not fooling anyone on here!! :)

  41. Boian Penkov says:
