What is AETUTS?

Dec 16th in News by Skellie

AETUTS joins PSDTUTS, VECTORTUTS, AUDIOTUTS and NETTUTS as Envato’s newest TUTS+ site. It’s all about quality tutorials for Adobe After Effects. Whether you want to learn how to create breathtaking special effects, vibrant motion graphics or cinematic footage, we’ll be publishing plenty of tutorials to suit your needs! Keep reading to learn a little bit more about AETUTS’ new editor and what we’ll be offering on the site.

Author: Skellie

Skellie is Tuts+ Manager. She makes sure all the Tuts+ sites are awesome. You can follow her/the Tuts+ Network on Twitter via @tutsplus.

Unlike the other TUTS+ sites, AETUTS will offer mainly high-definition screencast tutorials. This will allow you to clearly see the After Effects interface and view the tutorial final products in motion as they're created. In most weeks we'll be publishing 2 - 3 high quality tutorials, so make sure to subscribe to the AETUTS RSS feed so you don't miss a thing.

In our first tutorial, AETUTS editor Lloyd Alvarez shows you how to create a cinematic opening title effect.

If you think you have the skills to create a screencast or text and image tutorial for AETUTS, it's easy to familiarize yourself with the guidelines and pitch your idea. We're hungry for user contributions and pay $150 USD for an accepted tutorial.

Meet the Editor, Lloyd Alvarez

Lloyd Alvarez is a freelance art director, animator and designer living in New York City. He's worked for clients such as ESPNEWS, Macys, Miller Lite, Nike Japan, CBS Networks and Adult Swim, so he's clearly got a lot of experience and knowledge to share. Lloyd also shares his After Effects knowledge at AE Scripts, and will regularly be producing tutorials for this site.

We hope you enjoy AETUTS!

Congrats yet another awesome place to learn, will look forward to the tutorials, :) however will it be After Effects only? Apple Motion inclusion would be nice too, after all motion graphics is the idea, right. :)

    Nonetheless love you guys, :)

I am about to die of excitement.
After Effects is my specialty and now my favourite artist network is hosting tutorials for it. No more reliance on videocopilot!

I haven’t really had many projects that require AE but it’s great to see a new site launched, all the best with it.

I’m sure it will be filled with top quality content as the rest of the TUTS sites are!

    Nice work people! :)

Interesting. I think a general video focused site would have been a bit more interesting, but I’m excited to see what kind tutorials come out of this!

I would love to have one page for all the tuts since I tend to work in photoshop, illustrator, then animate in ae, the post to web would make my life a lot easier to check one tuts page than 4:)

I don’t know if it is possible, but create sort of an energy glow with flaking particles from a character. This is often found in video games when the character gains enough power to blast his/her enemies.
