What Do You Think of Our New Ad Layout?

We’ve made a few changes to our sponsorship and advertising at Aetuts+ over the past month, and would love to get your feedback. Read on to find out what’s changed, and how you can send us your thoughts and suggestions!

Fewer Ads

If you’re a regular visitor, you may have noticed the difference in our sidebar over the past month. We’ve dramatically cut down on the number of advertising slots made available, and given our advertisers much greater exclusivity. Only one advert will display on each page, where previously we had over seven different slots:

One Ad

We place a very high value on your attention, and want to make sure that we’re promoting a useful number of relevant products and services to you!

We’d Love to Hear Your Thoughts

I’d like to invite you to offer your feedback on how you think this affects the reading experience. Do you prefer a single exclusive ad? How does it change the way you view the site — are you more likely to visit Aetuts+ to read articles over our RSS feed? Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below. I’ll be listening to everything you have to say!

Interested in Advertising?

If you’re interested in becoming an advertiser to make the most of this new exclusive slot, all the details are available over at BuySellAds. Just let us know if you have any questions!

The width of it needs to be dramatically cut. Like down to 1/2 the size it is now; it’s over 1/3 the width of the whole page.

Thanks for your feedback, Jeremy. The width of the sidebar is more determined by (a) the other content in there, such as our social media links etc, and (b) the fact that we want to keep the left side of the screen an optimal reading width.

I visit the tuts+ sites more than twice a day and really, I didn’t noticed this change at all.I like the subtle appearance so it doesn’t distract the viewers eyes from the post to the ads.
In my opinion It would be nicer if it would be a kind of square so add more height to it.

I agree with Max and Jeremy, the change is subtle and I like it that way so the viewers can focus on the content. I believe the ad width area is great because it gives more room for the ads, social networks, info, etc. But I believe the width of the sidebar should be cut just a hair. (Maybe about 50px or so) but that’s juts me being picky ;)

Hi David. I read your article. Could you please tell me how much One has to pay? Or is it free?
