    Hi Adam,

I know the tut has a different purpose, but I am dying to know how you make these “frosen 3d” shots where you fly around a scene frozen in time. Using a lot of cameras springs to mind, but maybe there is a trick to this?

    Maybe a future tutorial? :)

Cant wait for the tut! I think its been a little more than a few weeks!

    • Kyle

hi. i might be 14 but i might have a way of doing this. You can try to take the footage without the people in there. then do a video where that person gets frozen [you might want to get a picture out of the footage (and Photoshop it to get the transparency)]. Track the footage and then just put the picture in the footage where it stands. any i’m not very good with AE. but you can experiment with what i have given you. cheers

      • Kyle

one more thing. the method only gives your a 3d view of the body. aka one view of the body

  • anxs220

    Gonna submit!

  • conna

      • Gary

ohhh thankyou very much, i appreciate it :)

        its called Hecq- Steeltongued :)

  • Stan

i have been looking how to do this effect for many months but i cant seem to find any good tutorials on it :/ i would really appreciate a tutorial on this time-freeze effect or a short overview please :)

    • http://www.ardillamedia.com Anders Hattne

My guess is shooting the video with people standing still putting in things to support them, like wires or pillars and roto them out afterwards. That or having a ton of cameras available..

  • http://www.ben.getreelstudio.com Ben Henry

I have been looking for a contest giving away PFTrack now, and finally, I found it!

  • Wiick

Hey, have been looking for that new image sequence upload. The .mov is not working. Any idea on when this will be uploaded?

    • http://www.vimeo.com/everettoptions Adam Everett Miller
      Author

I already have uploaded the image sequence… it’s in the download.

      • Karim Duncan

Thanks for the image sequence I think that will work and I hope the frame rate of the sequence is the same as that of tracking data.

I will try it out and submit it!

      • http://badashahfx.weebly.com saad

cant download. its says its 620MB. anybody have this problem?

    • Karim Duncan

      That was helpfull , thanks

    • http://www.youtube.com.badashahfx saad

      really helpful :) thanks

    • Calinu

Hello:) Great contest. I have a question…does the final video need to be the same length as the footage you provided? The footage is about 720 frames. Would it be ok if i made the video with only 420?

      • http://www.vimeo.com/everettoptions Adam Everett Miller
        Author

        That’d be fine.

  • Bullett

I know a couple of other people have mentioned this before, and help has been provided, but I’m still having trouble getting the tracking to match up with the footage…

I’ve tried the Time-Remapping trick Adam shared above, and I’ve also tried to ‘Interpret footage’ on the image sequence to match the tracking comp’s 24fps. Both cause the image sequence to match the tracked comp duration (0:00:30:20), but the tracking markers don’t match up with the footage – they jump around quite a bit, quite obviously as you move frame by frame. I’ve made sure the image sequence starts at the very start of the comp, but it still doesn’t match.

Is there anything else anyone can suggest I try?

  • illd

Great idea for a contest. Unluckily the Tracking data is incorrect somehow. The Track inside C4d has several spikes which can be deleted manually but the track itself is slipping more and more towards the end. Which framerate has the original footage, 24 Fps or 23,976fps?

  • http://youtube.com/user/atomicmonkeypro JaydenB

@illd yes the file IS now 620mb, but i still downloaded it anyway to submit :P

  • stephen

    Hey Adam,

The cinema 4D file has some random jerky movements, so I’m looking to re-track and export again. Could you provide some details on the camera to make it a bit easier (sensor size, focal length etc).

    Thanks,
    Stephen.

    • illd

same problem here – if we had some data of the camera it would be much easier to use this footage

    • http://www.pfhoe.com/ Paula

Hi Stephen, please try the Lightwave file format, this will fix the problem.

      • stephen

        Hi Paula,

Thanks for the info, but I fear I’ve left it a bit too late now. Never mind, next time…

        Stephen.

  • Daniel Reinoso

    Hi Adam

I would like to use a photo of your head and put it on a wanter poster, to put it in the video. Can i do it?

  • Bobo

To bad that the 3d track dosent seem to be very accurate, alot of helpers are just a mess and in wrong places.

  • http://www.pfhoe.com Paula

There has been a problem reported in the PFhoe forum with using the C4D export and as a temporary solution users are asked to use the LightWave file export. This will fix any issues you are experiencing using the tracking data in C4D.

Which Timezone/Wolrdtime is the deadline? :)

        Best

        Eastern Standard

  • Daniel Reinoso

The Prizes are only for the 1st Place?

  • Simon

ok, sorry, for asking again, but am not shure how you are telling the time in your place and translating it into my time is even more confusing. To be absolutely shure: From now on we have 17 hours and 20 minutes left, right? :)
Sorry, just started and need every minute i got ;)

    Best

    • Luke

I’m also still thinking about this – do we have full Friday, and it ends together with Friday? Then we would still have more than 24 hours.
The problem is some people assume that at midnight means AFTER the given day, some think it is when the day starts. I hope the first one is true here, meaning – we have to finish before May 6th ends (Friday/Saturday night).

I’m at work all Friday so I could use some extra time in the evening to finish things off.

      Cheers.

  • Luke

    Hi,
I visit AE tuts from time to time, but I missed the info about the competition :/ I’ve started yesterday, I’m cutting on sleep to meet the deadline and here’s my question, just to make sure: the deadline is Friday night, right? But which timezone exactly? I’m from Europe, my timezone is GMT+1, so right now it’s 12:10 p.m.
New York is GMT-5, so it’s 6:10 a.m. at the moment.
So if you mean New York time my deadline, in my timezone, is Saturday 6 a.m. right? I have to work all day today and tomorrow, so I’m going crazy here ;)

    Great competition by the way,

    Cheers.

  • http://www.vimeo.com/apaczos ApaczoS

Holy crap! I forgot about the time differences…In that case I have 6h bonus, nice:)

    • Luke

I’m glad I could help by asking those questions ;)
So, if you take for example France, Germany or Poland – the deadline is Saturday, May 7th at 6 a.m.?
If AE Tuts is based in California it would be 8 a.m. then! What timezone are we talking here?

      Thanks for a reply.

      • Luke

Oh, I’ve just noticed this post:

        “Adam Everett Miller says:
        May 5, 2011 at 12:37 am
        Author

        Eastern Standard”

        It’s clear then, thanks!

      • Simon

so is it including or excluding friday?

      • Duncan

No! “May 5, 2011 at 12:37 am” is the time Adam Everett Miller posted his last entry, not the ending time.

  • wach

hey adam, where is the ‘small tip’ for the video you made, or perhaps a tutorial on how you did it? i’m sure everyone would be so grateful of it :D

  • wach

@Adam Everett Miller tutorial on the video you made above please! i’m sure you’ll make everyone happy, including me! :D
