Videocopilot.net quality tutorials on interesting and useful effects that are popular and can be used in a variety of projects
( )Chris December 16th
You should speak to videocopilot.net about hosting some of their vids.
Great training and intro to AE
( )Nicolas December 16th
what about some basic tutorials for the beginners? would be awesome
( )Dan December 16th
+1 for basic tutorials. Like, really basic. Maybe a 5 - 10 minute overview of the basic layout of the program, and some basic effects you can do.
Kind of like the jQuery screencasts.
( )MEGAFATBOY December 16th
Seen the Viva la Vida coldplay + itunes ad?
( )I wanna see a tut for that. But for free.
Good start on the site, fits in wiht all the other sites
(Psd, Vector Tuts)
Dead.Pixel December 16th
I am coming into aetuts with no knowledge of AE so it would be great to have a full intro to AE itself on a basic level as it deviates a lot from the usual Adobe library.
Other than that…throw some good ones at me, I love a challenge!
( )Al December 16th
I really want to see some tutorials based on Motion design. Too many AE tutorials on moviefx and such.
I want to see tutorials on the puppet tool.
Integration between AE, photoshop and illustrator.
Best compression results.
etc…
Videocopiliot is great, but not much for designers.
and there are plenty of basic tutorials out there, even a whole wiki library. So try and make these intermediate and up.
Thanks
( )mahmoud March 20th
yeah i’d love to see that as well . and i do agree video copilot is nice but honestly the tutorials are really limited in their subject , its more for people who like to learn how to use AE as a hobby and not a designer.
some stop motion would be nice.
( )sin December 16th
hi! I’m flash designer, and want to know more about Fl+Ae combinations, cause it’s more for web
( )DEEPBLUEZERO December 16th
WOW! We do need it!
( )Paul December 16th
+1 for the “like the jQuery screen casts” comment.
( )mamjed December 16th
OMFG im so excited! iv been waiting for another great AE tut site since i discovered videocopilot when it first went up!
( )konsehal_14 December 16th
Basic Basic Basic Basic
( )konsehal_14 December 16th
Can’t wait for the Launching of FlashTuts / FLATuts, lol, it would be a great summed up Adobe Tutorials
( )devlim.com December 16th
I hope will have Adobe After Effect for beginner
( )Dilip December 17th
Hi
I’m a big fan of your all tuts side and Good Luck for the new astuts.com site.
As i wanted to learn AE and Preimer also. so pls post basic tutorial in the start i wanted to learn everything in After Effects
Thanx very much
( )Spartacus December 17th
Video copilot leads the field for sure but their tutorials take longer to output as they’re usually quite in depth.
Maybe some shorter punchier tutorials or work flow techniques would be good.
Camera moves, kinetic type and titles animation are all valuable skills to demonstrate and yes maybe beginner tutorials would be helpful for some but VCP already has some really good beginner stuff which covers a lot of basics.
( )Nathan G December 17th
I want to see a great water colour effect tut!
( )Nathan G December 17th
Additionally I really want to see motion graphics based tutorials not film effects or post-movie production specific stuff. As said before Video Copilot does that great but I need things like:
-best render settings to get a project out on a tight deadline
( )-how to create CNBC style charts and graphs
-how to add visual polish to a product ad
-how to work well with other 3D modelling programs (C4D, 3DS, etc.)
-best workflow for integrating hand drawings with live video
-things beyond the basic add motion blur, particular effects, and camera depth of field…
BogDinamita December 17th
agree with other, some basic stuff, probably half of us right now are noobs and wanna learn something other than Photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign or whatever
good luck
( )Joshua Michie December 17th
I’ve been trying to master the collage style animations with flourishing shapes, and I’d love to see how I can improve upon it. (without breaking out MAYA) I’m using masks and keying so they grow, but it isn’t looking organic and seamless enough. To the trained eye, you can see the masks.
( )sicfess December 17th
I WANT MOAR!
( )Max December 17th
i want to how to make smoke mask effect on people like you see them appear as if they materialized from thin in sense of smoke. don’t know if i explained it right. i know it can be done.
( )ericzoo December 17th
flash + after effects tutorials please!
( )georgy December 17th
great new site! i was really looking forward to it.
( )some stuff on kinetic typography would be great and also something like this: http://www.karimzariffa.com/#/motion/8/ or this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqYcV3BuF4c
thanks and keep on doing your great job!
Dean S December 17th
Not so much on what I want, you guys already seem to do a great job on that already- more on what I don’t.
Can you please not rely on paid for plug-ins. I see from your very first post we need to download a trial version plug-in. Plug-ins are great but they cost money - tempting us with their magical abilities just leaves me deflated when I realise I can’t afford to go out and buy it!
Looking forward to all the new stuff!!!
( )Alen Sirovica December 17th
I have opened After Effects only once or twice. Would be nice to have a beginners series. Something familiar to the Jquery for absolute beginners video series.
Looking forward to AETUTS
( )w1sh December 17th
^ what everyone else said.
( )BASIC OVERVIEW PUH-LEEZ!
Chris December 17th
Greenscreen Please!
Preferably low budget Greenscreen.
How to make the HP ads like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsE0g-8CDQo or this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RPl5vPEoQk
( )mahmoud March 20th
yeah man i just checked those ads , pretty much lovely
a tutorial would be nice about it
( )agilius December 17th
I’d like to see some basic tutorials for the beginning, since I am coming from Photoshop. I am not sure if everybody will be interested in the most advanced high quality effects and resources. I just want to learn a few things about AE and how to use it for fun, not for a commercial reason in the first place.
Keep up the good work, it’s nice to see a new ‘tut’ site getting born:)
( )recday December 17th
I want to see some 3d filters effects.
( )John December 17th
Beginners stuff! Lots of it!
( )Troyenne December 17th
Maybe a presentation of what After Effect allows us to do, an interface presentation with the tools… for begginers
( )Eduardo December 17th
A whole series on EXPRESSIONS would be very cool!
( )Dan December 17th
Id like to see some cross over tuts from design in photoshop and illustrator to after effects. Maybe some kind of mo-graph title sequence.
( )he667 December 17th
Trapcode tutorials! And loop effects like waves, lens flares, clouds, flames, etc. !!!
( )Lumzor December 17th
Dear AeTuts, as you are new to Tuts family, it should of start with bacis series of tutorials, about 5-10 of em, then keep on going advanced.
( )Kev December 17th
Will there be a section or a motiontuts for Apple Motion? I really don’t care for AE.
I don’t know how many people use AE over Apple Motion, but here the industry revolves around Apple Motion. There must be a reason to this….
Thanks
( )Kim Dolleris December 17th
+1 with all the creative “from scratch” stuff..
But what baout enhancing a dull and boring untouched video into a freash colorful and cool one - tips and tricks, masking, coloring etc. - how do we make it look like Lord of the Rings?
Also the trapcode plugins.. have only tried some tryouts and they are pretty complex for a newb like me - any possibility you could explain - espcially “particular”
Love the TUTS concept! Keep up the great work!
( )Melvin December 17th
More design video’s, if you want to be different from videocopilot. They are more about movie effects and all sort. Would be great if you guys showed us allot more Vector+ AE ? and some flash indeed.
looking forward to the tutorials!
cheers
( )Kadir Martin December 17th
after effects expression introduction and advanced training
3d camera tracking , rotoscoping
thanks for the site
( )your other sites are very educational
j0hn December 17th
Motion Graphics with AE!
( )Murilo December 17th
Could you put the ‘lessons’ for download, or Podcast, to put on my iPod…
( )TWOPO December 17th
get to know how to creat these projects on http://aeprojects.biz/
thanks
( )Gabriel December 17th
Absolute begginers tutorials would be awsomeee
( )Tomas December 17th
what about FLASH tutorials ? =)
( )CArlos December 17th
Hi first videocopilot.net it’s a most completely site turorials for AE, and incluided a basic tutorials: http://www.videocopilot.net/basic/
But they post month by month, and cneter in use his libraries like evolution… this great but cost.
The video tutorial its great, but sometimes i prefere read the tutorial for comprense step by step the tool to use, sometimes in video the steps wasnt clear.
Im interesting in use after effects for create video comercials and promos like this:

Jacky December 17th
I agree with more motion graphics rather than special effects.
Mostly importantly, tutorials on creating movie titles, that is the real bulk of what the best motion designers do. Not just fancy effects.
Look forward to see this site grow.
( )Carlos Diaz December 17th
I would to see a way to capture video, edit and add simple color effects.
( )BORABORA December 17th
I would love to see some “typography in motion”-like tutorials!
P.S.: GREAT clip
One of my favourite scenes
( )patrik December 17th
Maww. If you want the basic stuff head over to http://www.videocopilot.net/basic/ What I mean is that it’s already done, so why do it again?
I would like to see advanced high quality stuff. Just like the first one posted here, that one was just perfect.
I feel kind of stuck between the basics and the advanced stuff, I’m in need of new and fresh techniques.
And finally, thanks for starting this site up. Really been looking forward to it. Probably just what I need to get back on track with motion graphics.
( )Matthew December 17th
A series of “Heroes” Effects : Flying, healing, fire, super strength, super speed, freezing time, turn your self in to the hulk. All that sort of stuff.
Not just from the “Heroes” TV show, but from all the movies shows.
( )Cécile December 17th
Thank you for this new website !! It’s great
Hope to have a lot of interesting tutorials to realize.
Bye
( )Andrew Pryde December 17th
Start from a beginners point of view. I had not even opened it until today so softly softly please.
( )Diggy December 17th
Basic Effects. Overall interesting and appealing visuals.
( )RUGRLN December 17th
Alright here’s a list of what IMO is something you could do:
( )Titles, Credits…
Special Effects but not too advanced…
Some kind of morphing to make people change into some kind of zombie or alien on the face..Seen alot of stuff like that on youtube, metacafe, would like to know how it’s done unless it ain’t too hard…
Some tutorial with chroma keying…
Dawn March 5th
Check out Video Copilot.net for there face morphing tutorial, there definitely the leader in the after effects motion graphics tutorial field, always fun and interesting tutorials. Andrew Kramer is A GOD. (by the way he also did the Intro for the tv series Fringe).
( )Rob Eckert December 17th
honestly i know that a ton of people want basic tutorials… they are a dine a dozen on the web, it would be great to see some cool advanced tutorials… like good camera move techniques (super important), Expressions, or how to navigate through different comps in 3d space (continually rasterize)… creative type animations (not the same boring wipey garbage) and comping 3d into your motion graphics (from MAYA! and max) is a good one too…video co-pilot is one of my favorite sites but the newer the better… posting his stuff is not a bad idea but there are alot of other sites posting his tutorials… it would be great to have a new reference for new ideas cause i personally like to go to the video copilot.com for video copilot tutorials… I work in this business everyday and these are the type of tutorials i seek out on a daily bases… I’m really glad that to see a new site for new ideas…
Rob Eckert
( )Andreaz December 17th
Ofcourse Basics like everyone said. Later it would be cool to get most popular, professional movie effects like: Sin City color styling, 300 fight and blood effects, Fight Club Zooming effects and so on…
( )on air December 17th
uhuuu!! this will be so helpful! keep working thanks!
( )Beto Arpi December 17th
I’d like to see some tutorials to make cool transitions and also for use it with Flash for web.
Great Job with this site!
Keep on moving!
( )John Dangerous December 17th
There are tons of intro tuts on the net. There is no reason to cover what is covered over and over again.
I think it would be cool to see some good trapcode form tutorials
( )after effects/Cinema 4d integration
title sequences
camera animation tutorials
Shawn Stringfield December 17th
I would really like to see some Flash/After Effects integration as well integrating After Effects and Cinema 4D
( )Dan December 17th
Could be a fantastic addition to the TUTS family — (as long as it doesn’t go all annoyingly fee-based, full of inaccessible “Pro” material too quickly).
Although pimping plugins will have to happen — assembling a STRONG ASSORTMENT of tips, tricks and a mix-bag of techniques that don’t involve site followers forking over our cash to third party developers…
That’s the stuff of a truly useful site.
( )Tim December 17th
It would be awesome if their were some beginner tutorials..
( )Tobi December 17th
AE and 3d integration from maya or 3ds would be good.
( )comapred to this http://vimeo.com/1533692
or somethink like this this http://vimeo.com/1041342
Eric December 17th
i’d like to see tutorials dealing with cameras, “3d planes” and finetuning the keyframes! bring it on!
( )Mark Aplet December 17th
Like previously mentioned by others I would like to know more about camera moves. e.g. parenting to null objects. Not just how to do that but what can be done with it to make things easier. Also how to make animations that would be useful for general audience not just motion trailers etc. Some things I have planed are:
( )1. Titles that pop open and swing like a hanging sign.
2. Twisting and turning the camera while following a motion path
3. More with built in particle effects. I love trap code but I am still paying for AE let alone attempt to pay for those really nice plugins.
4. Adding weight or mass to an object so that it’s animation appears more realistic.
Mario December 17th
A basic tut on an HD project would be nice.
( )partelo December 17th
a tutorial on how to make northern lights would be amazing.
( )jamie December 17th
I’m not a noob in fact I’ve been using AE since it was COSA.
I think a blend of basics and advanced user tutorials would be great.
For new users very simple projects can be practical ways to learn the basic tool set and work flow. Easing keyframes and precomps could be explained through pretty simple projects and used else where.
For advanced users tearing into particular problems/solutions/ideas relating to a project may be more appropriate and you can jump right in to the meat of the tutorial.
I would also focus on avoiding plugins for the basics.
( )Ben December 17th
Great site,
Finally something else worth checking besides VideoCopilot.net
I’d really like to see a (boring) tutorial on rendering and export settings. When to use squarepixels, what compression is needed for DVD quality, what is a good bitrate for webvideos, when and how to include multiple render passes in a project.
Speaking for myself, I can create pretty cool stuff in AE but I struggle with the many settings for exporting. Since rendering takes so much time and has such a big impact on final quality, I’d really love to learn more about it.
( )neon December 17th
a carnivale opening credits tutorial would be great.
http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=BMqLks7qnew

( )segfaultii December 17th
A comprehensive tut series on professional compositing complex scenes, ideally HD greenscreen footage to practise tracking, keying, color correction.
Later on some 3D camera projection, 3D Tracking and bringing it all together, THAT would rock. But that would make so much time and work that it probably won’t get made for free
( )eldee December 17th
some TYPEMOTION plz =)
( )Omega December 17th
would like to see how i can use ae for website stuff
( )Bryce December 17th
1. Compositing tricks (Backplates, rotoscoping, keying, etc)
2. AE/3D animation workflow
3. AE and Flash integration
I’ll offer to write something about #3…
( )Q December 17th
If anyone has a link to a site where I can download a screecasting software, that would be great. I think I can reproduce some of these request if only I had a program to record with. I do agree with a few of the posts on here about staying away from extra plug-ins as well as introducing the basics of After Effects. If someone can provide me with a link to a site that has a free software, that would be awesome and maybe I can start pumping out some tutorials. I can always do the text version but I’d prefer using a screencasting program because it’d be easier to explain things then having to write out a book. Hopefully someone can help me out with this and in return hopefully I can fulfill some of your requests.
Cheers,
( )Q
loswl December 17th
Excellent set of website, can’t wait to see how this grows, I want to learn more :o)
( )Stanley Wood December 17th
I would love to learn how to create one of those sequences that matches a narrative with moving type, there’s a great example of Samuel L. Jackson’s Pulp Fiction dialogue put to use in this way. I’ve yet to find or hear someone describe a way of doing this.
Also, I’d love to know how to make some very nice budget filmmaking type effects that might be easy but that prove great results.
( )Dan December 17th
Beginner series, please!
( )Sam December 17th
Obviously as previously stated earlier by many people, videocopilot.net’s Andrew Kramer is always great! While the tutorials on there are more in depth, it would follow in the tradition of the other Tuts sites: more beginners tutorials at first followed by more advanced ones.
What I DON’T want: how the CreativeCow.net AE Podcasts and tutorials are set up. It is hard to find and frankly utterly useless in learning anything. I only rely on their weekly podcasts, really. Also, don’t rely on paid-for plugins. AE is an amazing program, and many people simply don’t have the funds to buy the extras. AE has still yet to be fully explored in it’s possibilities, and we don’t need to always hear about plugins for some amazing effect when we can’t buy it.
What I DO want: first off, a priority given to video tutorials. Often, written tutorials can be confusing and frankly use much more time. As for tutorial ideas: the “HP Commercial” effects would be cool. Also effects from upcoming or recently released movies. Perhaps a Phaser tutorial like in the upcoming Star Trek movie. Just a thought.
( )geppo December 17th
i agree…videocopilot is a good site for post-prod but i think could be useful to explain how to create animated spot like “MTV style”…i love it!”"
( )dehlz December 17th
Another +1 for videocopilot, although I’m happy to have another great source for AE inspiration here!
( )Nathan Chpman December 17th
Hey
( )This one fits nicely, and should compliment, not compete with Video Copilot.
Anyway, the tutorial I’ve been hanging out for is a good muzzle-flash one.
toyBunny December 17th
I’d like to see tutorials that take full advantage of the built in plugins that AE comes with. Not rely so much on 3rd party or rely on them at all! The CC plugins show a lot of potential, but they tend to go by the wayside because the 3rd party plugins steal the limelight. Also, show tuts that show the power of expression and scripts! Lastly, how ’bout tuts on the hidden secrets, like the secret pref menu or the text preferences, that users can tap into for more control. Great look, great start! Keep it up!
( )Seraphim Collective December 17th
Great timing, I just wrapped up my first official animation too.
No more playing around, animation is fun!
Only thing i ask is that you guys keep the tuts interesting like video copilot
( )Nick December 18th
Would love to see real-world production techniques. Have Lloyd break down one of the commercial spots from his real - they are amazing. Maybe he could not only demonstrate the aftereffects techniques, but also explain his conceptual ideas and how he worked with the client to create the spot.
Also would love to see some cool 2.5d camera techniques with live footage and animated illustrations.
( )Alex December 18th
JOY !!!!!!!!
you guys are doing AE too
ho ho ho, happy is me
( )sach December 18th
I will very love to see FlashTUTS
Flash AE integration tutorials will be cool
( )Bleau December 18th
+ 1 for basic. Starting fresh and small will give us all a chance to give feedback and give us a sense of what we can do with ae and ask crazier things
( )gee December 18th
i would love to see a kinetic typography tutorial for beginners
( )Kyle December 18th
+1 Settings and configurations
+1 Motion graphics & design
Use the Flash video overlay to preview the tut like videocopilot. I find that very helpful
( )Kyle December 18th
If everyone here wants beginner (and it seems they do) then stay away from trapcode or even CycoreFX as not everyone has them and probably don’t want to drop a couple $$$ more on a product they are new to.
( )Josh Drake December 18th
Thank you so much for making this site!!! I’ve always wanted to learn AE more, but never could find any good tutorials on it. Now that has changed. Thanks!
( )morstua December 18th
affects of movies would be cool…
like make the backgrounds, the fire effects, explosions, morphings, etc etc…
( )eyetuts December 18th
Break it offffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff!
( )ENVARTO IS THE BEST
oops i mean psdtuts,vectortuts,nettuts,aetuts, everything
Albania December 18th
I think you should start with the basics (like everyone else is saying) then go to the advanced
( )Matt December 18th
Don’t host videocopilot tuts… if anyone wanted that they can go to videocopilot… stay separate!
( )bensn December 18th
for basics visit andrew kramers basic tutorial series on videocopilot.net, it really helps an got everything u need to start w ae.
great new site, i hope to see something new to do w ae.
to the impossible request for all, if u want to do something, make styleframes, storyboard, then see what u need for ur project. then start lookin out for similar effects you can use in other way for ur project.
( )Navras December 18th
Hey there, um I was wondering if you could make some tuts on digital painting, cause its a huge thing in photoshop design and no one has any tuts on it
( )John December 19th
It would be GREAT if you could make a tutorial on how to make a black & white video with certain colors visible. An example of this is T.I.’s song “Why You Wanna.” It would be really insightful if you could show us noobs how to come about this effect.
( )Sawang December 19th
I think tuts about expression (if I said that right?) i.e. wiggle stuff like that. I would love it. And also C4D combine with AE that would be nice.
( )exido December 19th
Would love to see some examples of special effects used in movies, music videos and so on:) For an example how to create the effect in Justin Timberlake lovestoned video.
( )Daltur December 19th
I would like to see COUNTDOWN tutorial with 3d text and similiar nice effects.
Or mybae some fancy promo for movie trailer
Anyways im happy to finaly see AEtuts running, im joining AE+ as soon there will be more tuts
( )Joe Jackson December 19th
Seeing as VideoCopilot, CreativeCOW, and other tutorial sites really focus on many of the “popular” effects, it would be nice to have a tutorial site that focuses on the “details.” More so on the processes or theory, or why something should be done a certain way, the work-flow, etc. If I want to create an exploding ball in AE, all I have to do is Google “Exploding Ball After Effects” and get millions of hits, a plenty of sites that will either A) have the effect thrown at me in some plugin, or B) have a quick tutorial that will show me how to do it in 5 minutes.
That’s boring! And is only giving me the fish! TEACH me the strategies/tactics and processes!
Show me different ways to take my sketches, or ideas in my head, and map out/layout and step in the right direction of getting my/my clients’ visions into realities!
( )tedgrphx December 19th
I don’t Mind basic tutorials but most people have identified Videocopilot as one of there favorite and there are some really good basic training tutorials there. Even an intermediate user can learn a thing or too from those tutorials. What i like to see some compositing tutorials that use greenscreen techniques, working with 3d in AE. importing matchmove 3d data into AE. And maybe working with matte paintings. Rotoscoping would be a good addition because there is no tutorials on that and that would be fine.
( )Shaun December 19th
Sorry if it’s already been mentioned, but if you guys could post some stuff on animating characters (like vectorized drawings) that’d be awesome.
( )CArlos December 19th

( )Markus Jonasson Nielsen December 19th
I would be cool, if every second post was i basic. So there will be tutorial for everyone! ;D
( )Q December 19th
I’ve been reading some of the comments on here and I would agree on keeping it basic for those who dont know the program yet. I felt that same way when I first started using After Effects. Another suggestion is stay away from “third party plug-ins” unless they are free. Yes you can follow a video tutorial or even a written one but it does you no good if you don’t know the basics or what the hell the author is talking about.
As for introducing the basics, I believe that it would take at least a few tutorials before everyone gets familiar with the program. There is too much “basics” to cover in After Effects to be able to put it all into one video unless the video is an hour long and even then I still don’t think everything can be covered.
As for some of the effects that are requested, some of them are do-able and some are just too much for After Effects alone to handle. The longer clips will take a lot of planning and story boarding as well as preparing all the materials you need and that would be impossible to make a tutorial for it unless its done in a series. Again for big projects, you can’t just jump into After Effects and slap something together and expect it to come out good, it takes a lot of planning and all the professionals will tell you the same thing
Since there seems to be such a high demand for basics, I’ll see what I can do. I should have some free time on my hands this weekend and I’ll see if I can knock out a few Tutorials introducing the basics and some really useful shortcuts which will help your overall work flow. I’ve already sent in one for feedback so I’ll see how that goes. Heres a link to it. http://vimeo.com/2568623.
I also love working with text so if there are some effects that you guys would like to see, make a request and I’ll see what I can do but I can’t emphasize it enough, keep it short, preferably around 10-15 seconds. Until then.
Cheers
( )STEPHEN RICHARDS December 19th
O MY GOD I TOTALLY WANT TO KNOW HOW TO MAKE THAT LIGHTED SQUARE INFINITE PATHWAY BACKGROUND IN THE LET IT ROCK VIDEO AND I SO WANT TO KNOW HOW TO MAKE THAT LASER LIGHT SHOW EFFECT THAT WAS ALSO IN THE VIDEO
( )Arjan December 19th
BASIC STUFF!!!!!
I’m new to AE and it looks sweet. Also, how to combine your Photoshop stuff with this.
Some cool motion effects like the first tut or here.
Thanks and congrats!!!
( )LostDZ December 20th
Hi!
Well, Highly interested in AE, but specially in related to importing from Cinema4D, PS, and using as well as possible video FX. This is the kind of tuts i’d love to follow
(a simple opinion)
( )Stevo December 20th
I’d really like some cool motion text effects.
Also, it’d be great to see how you’d pull off a sequence like the “How I Met Your Mother” intro.
These sites rock

Like everyone else is saying, make the next video about the UI and the basics of after effects i.e. masking, how keyboard shortcuts can be REALLY helpful, what FPS is, the different window arrangements, etc etc, you get the idea.
Another tip, your video on the cool opening is hard to follow, you can barely hear the tutor, and he doesn’t really explain what much does, which is kind of the point if you want to be creative on your own using different tools, I think presentation needs to be improved alot. Andrew Kramer (spelling?) from video copilot is a good example of a good tutor who explains things thoroughly, and although his videos often take up a large amount of time, you walk away feeling like you’ve learnt something. Anyway, /Endrant

Kinetic typography! There’s not a lot of tutorials on that. Also, I’d like to learn more about cameras, animation, and rendering formats. Can’t wait for the updates.

( )Draboizwizzer December 23rd
HI, Can you set out some tutorial on how to render after effect? I often get a huge file. which looks good, but then when i try to upload it on youtube or the web…it looks bad… i guess my other question would be what is the best way to compress a HD format for web playing… Thanks!
( )John Dangerous December 24th
Hey, if your looking for some ideas the making-it-look-great-5seies just came out and they have a tutorial on trapcode form that’s sick! There aren’t a lot of good tutorials on that plug in yet. If you can do a spin off that tutorial that would be helpful.
( )If you haven’t seen it the tut it shows you how to get a 3d representation of a 2d video clip made out of particles.

People, get your basic knowledge about AE from sites like lynda.com. They have some very nice tutorials on AE from Essential training to Beyond the Basics.
I really wanna see the high end stuff here. That’s the hard part to find on the web, and Envato are known for these high end tutorials with a high standard. So give us more of that!!

TYPOGRAPHY IN MOTION, I am so fascinated with some of the typography in motion pieces I have seen out there that are synchronized to sound. I would really like to see a tutorial on how it is done. Here is an example.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsucK43_DoM&feature=related

It is awesome that you guys set this up. me personally, I would like to learn the major tricks. Trapcode particular and fractal noise are some of my favorite effects. But I must admit, I am a novice at them. So some really cool “PRO” tutorials would be real cool. Also, third party effects et al…. You guys know best though.
Love the sight.

I don’t know if it is possible, but create sort of an energy glow with flaking particles from a character. This is often found in video games when the character gains enough power to blast his/her enemies.
( )Sam Gilmore January 2nd
Could we have some video drug effects. Like through the eyes or relating the audience with an idea of what the drug user is feeling for drugs like Alcohol, Cocaine, LSD and E.
Thanks

( )Jay G January 4th
I think you guys have gotten off to a great start! Great tutorials already! Keep up the great work, and caliber of work, too.
I say that it is great to have links to others work, such as Andrew Kramer’s work… but don’t focus on it. Feature new ideas.
As for beginners materials, go ahead and link to others work for that as well… There is already so much out there. No need to duplicate.
What I would LOVE to see is a tutorial on camera movement. SPECIFICALLY camera movement that imitates underwater movement. Viscosity, focus… all that. I have seen this technique used quite a bit lately and would love to know how to go about it, other than basic keyframing. Some examples are these:
The particle movement at the beginning really looks like particles under water. http://www.trapcode.com/gallery/nanodesign_h.mov
The particles and credits at the end really look like they are under water and being moved by a natural force. http://www.trapcode.com/gallery/suddenly_h264.mov
Basically, stationary particles and objects, but random/fluid camera movements that mimic being under water. Does this make sense? Thanks so much!
( )Jay G January 4th
I also think that more tutorials with the trapcode plugins would be great. I don’t even own them (but hope to soon), but they have become an industry standard that everyone should look more deep in.
Thanks again, and great site!
( )Will V. January 5th
For all those who said they want basic basic intro type stuff… You’re probably unaware of this, videocopilot.net has a free “basic training” series that covers a lot of this stuff…

( )adil January 20th
may be am I right but what I see in after effects tutorials is always 3 steps
1 - animation
2 - effects
3- adjustements (colors….)
if that right i guess you may be have add categories in your web site 1 & 2 1 & 3
and thanks for showing those AE secrets to us
( )Jay G January 24th
I don’t know if its just me, but when using firefox, I can’t go to full screen mode in the video tutorials…
( )Ben P January 26th
What about a tut on comping various render passes from a 3d program in AE? Explaining alphas, masks and basic colour correction?
Maybe a bit about camera tracking in a program like boujou!!! Or is that a bit too advanced and VFX oriented? (most AE Tuts are motion graphics based :s )…
Just an idea…
( )Kris de Jong January 27th

Hi,
The tutorials are great. Especially the latest one from Wesley Kandel!
But I would like to see a post about STYLEFRAMES and how to create them. That is maybe something for psdtuts but you should make a tutorial about it.
Styleframes are a big thing today in the motion graphics world since you have to persuade your clients before you can start your work.
Hope you can make one.
