Can i Vote twice for Deac Calin???? it’s the only one who created something wort watching with good FX!

    • http://www.greenfireproductions.net Travis

Deac, excellent work, if you don’t win something is wrong. You have my vote. Very, very innovative.

  • http://badashahfx.weebly.com saad

awesome submissions, its even hard to pick 2.

i am mad i didn’t had time to finish mine on time (finals exams..lol) :(

  • dj

Nice work all!…. However, the contest may be skewed. I’ll bet not one in 5 voters actually spend all the bandwidth and time to watch them ALL before voting. So you’ve stacked the voting favoring the first few. My thought is that it would have been better to do an elimination or something if you really want us to see them all. (BTW I did watch them all)

    • jink

      +1

    • http://www.fxgrill.com Hannu Hoffrén

I think you’re on to something here. I made a playlist for youtube videos and there does seem to be somekind of an correlation with the order and the play count: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=B38CA8B905A1AB81

Anyway, I guess the final choice is done by Aetuts+?

Whatever the case is, great works up there! Thanks for the contest & thanks for the participants! Cheers!!

Well Its really difficult to watch all first and Then vote, coz there r Number of submissions Thats good, But its tough for a Voter to watch them all first and then vote.
But i saw them all.. Very well done all :). I like your submissions very much, i just love to see :)
Ideas are great, did Pretty well.

  • Intie

This contest has 4 winners for me:
    1) David Ellis for brilliant motion graphics and overal awesomeness, those dophins are just superb
    2) Deac Calin for composition and flawless execution
    3) Peter Tromp for great idea (and execution of it) of not sticking with original footage but slicing half of it away
    4) Ron Cooney for making me laugh and remember my PacMan days

Voted for first two but good job everyone. Surprisingly good submisions!

  • illd

some youtube videos won´t play. Anders Flodihn is the man – but why didn´t you do some audio on this awsome piece?

    • Anders

Thanks, I found out this only 4 days before deadline, so I didnt have time to do audio… :)

  • fatman

oh god ron cooney – pure awesomeness. man, these are special fx, others are not even worth watching!

  • Adam

    David and Paul.

  • Matt

Watched them all. Thank you for the work you put into making them. Good luck to all.

  • Marc

Simon Kipfer for the Fallout/Halflife style, work with lights and decent audio engineering.

  • Spencer Tweed

Watch my rain one in HD if possible – otherwise you can hardly even see the detail that I put into it.

Well done Deac Calin for a freakin’ brilliant idea! I never thought of doing a “frozen” scene – but I wish I did!

I basically had 2 nights to make my submission – so I went “less is more” (obviously a dumb tactic for something like this). I was hoping people would notice some of the subtlety that I tried to put into my work – I went for something simple that was done as well as I could and looked as real as possible.

    - Spencer

    • Lukasz

I can perfectly understand that Spencer.
I had only 3 nights, two of which on an old laptop computer – it was driving me insane how slow it was…
I also wanted to be subtle, I don’t know how people judge those things, I assume it’s the first impression, which isn’t so great for a matchmoving competition.

I reversed the track, added masks (because of the reverse motion they have to obscure things as the camera goes back), replaced the sky and added the lightning (very suble, I bet no one will notice).

Well, we’ll see. I just wish I knew earlier, I visit the site every week but there was no info on the main page.

      Good luck! :)

      • Spencer Tweed

Totally with you on that one – I don’t think that 95% of the people that watched my shot noticed the rain drops that I painstakingly roto’d into the pavement (it was at this stage that I realized the track wasn’t exactly perfect… DAMN YOU WHITE GATE!).

I do probably 80% of my work on a laptop (luckily it isn’t too shabby though), so I definitely understand that frustration! I’ll be getting a freakin’ nice workstation pretty soon though – just got to get the funds through my company.

What you said about your shot sounds cool – stupidly I can’t view Vimeo videos at work (something to do with our firewall) so I’ll have to check it out another time.

        Good luck to you too.

        - Spencer
