What I Use
I grew up PC my whole life, but I started a job that provided me with a Mac Pro so I converted. I will say this though, I spend the vast majority of my professional time in Windows via bootcamp simply because I think editing in Sony Vegas is faster then any other program I’ve ever used… and yes, that means Avid, FCP, and Premiere. Just my valuable opinion, haha.

PC, i am using WINDOWS 7 and is amazing and the AE runs wonderfull and mac is too expensive, with that money i can build a better pc
who ever thinks that macs dont crash as often as pc’s are people who buy macs just for aesthetic values and don’t ever put it through its paces with rendering. I have a mac and I prefer pc’s.
Whatever gets the job done faster for the individual using the machine.
myself: Urban Planner from India, Just finshed graduation, worked with computers for eight years, primary platform is windows
let me make clear judgement
1) Desktop PC and Imac (Mac mini is a joke) – desktop PC is best choice
2) Notebooks and macbooks – mac books are the best choice
3) Netbooks and Macbook air – netbooks are the best choice
4) Highend cellphones and iphone – normal cellphones are the best choice
5) Any music device and ipod – ipods are the best choice
apple advantages and disadvantages:
good looks, clean hardware design “cool factor”
good outof the box experience
Support too costly (extra warranty time is costly, Rs. 1600 diagnosis charges etc)
Upgrading is costly
OS look and feel is too restrictive
have to spend money on everything you want to do with your machine (ipods are the best example)
specialised software (GIS, structural analysis, transport modelling, etc )
PCs and others:
options
low price
extensive reach of support (nook and orner of world)
extra stuff (fingerprint reader, voice recognition, face recognition, liquid cooling system for cpus, touch screens)
viruses
geeky look
windows vista
too much option is sometimes confusing (nfs underground vs most wanted)
Facts i know for sure which never get a mention:
os x crashes frequently when used extensively
people who have used any good smartphone gets disappointed with iphone in a week
Apple geniuses are just idiots
buying ipod is like renting a player for your use – you are kept in constant fear that doing anything unusual might break it
repairing a mac = buy a new mac
apple software are getting buggier and bigger all the time
I work with macintosh (at the agency) but I have used all my life PC…this year I was thinking to change to MAC……………………..but something happened this year…WINDOWS 7 was borned…I have one month using this new microsoft OS with my new CORE i7, GeForce 9400 GT 1 mb, 8 gb RAM, 22″ AOC and Windows 7 Pro x64…AND NOW I DECIDED THAT I WILL KEEP USING PC…MAC just in the office
WINDOWS 7 ROCKS!
PC….short for Piece of Crap!
Mac for life.
I prefer a Pc. I tried to use a mac once, and I couldn’t even find the internet button. And when I tried to log off my user, I didn’t know how to do that either. I had to ask for help. Macs are so complicated.
reading most of all your post has proven only one thing.. Most of you have no clue about what your talking about.. The users who claim to have to reboot and windows getting stuck need to really take a look at the hardware they are running on.. if your running on a windows based pc that came out of a box such as a dell or hp or gateway that needless to say was bought by your company so they were looking for the cheapest route and built them running the bare minimum sure your going to get stuck its like building a tank and using a prius engine, and even if attention was paid to the hardware when you buy a unit out of a box its all generic not a single brand name part in the damn thing. people get confused because they think nvidia or ati radeon are manufactures they aren’t but rather protocols licensed by hundreds of company’s including you guessed it cheap chicnesses knockoff company’s. What i’m trying to say is you get what you pay for an out of the box PC is built to be dead in 3yrs or less to keep you buying new PC’s. As for Vista i would have to agree with many posts if were were having this debate 3yrs ago, but vista isn’t even the question as it runs very nicely as of late but that Windows 7 makes vista look like bad dream. I personally own and operate a web development company and am both A+ & MCSE certified and build more units a month then most can say that have in their lifetime. I have used Mac’s in the past but mad the switch back to windows because lets face it for anything more then listening to music Mac is a joke, its a pretty little thing but pretty little thing doesn’t get the job done at the end of the day. it lacks in software development because lets face it the demographic is so small its almost worthless to program for from a software company stand point, need less to say thats the same reason Mac’s dont have the worms and spyware and crap its not worth making them for Mac’s because only 1 out of 10 people have a Mac you do the math kill one bird with one stone or kill nine. and no nothing is faster on a Mac then it is on a windows based PC i have proven this to at least 20 Mac fanboys and this is only because there 3000 programs to choose from to do a task in windows while your stuck with the generic Mac made crap or the 5 other options made by Mac fanboy company’s. besides all the facts that i pointed, I would gladly put my cheapest built windows pc against the the latest and greatest mac junk that will be obsolete in the next 6 months why because even with my cheapest built unit i had the option of premium parts were is the Mac user is running a generic lump of crap shelled in a pretty white i have no sack cover, toped with a proprietary OS that no smart software company would waist resources to program for all iced with a UI that is designed for brainless drooling baboon. Bottom line if your going to debate the ageless question of whats a better unit at least stop to think about the factors. If your an artsy fartsy yuppy type that has no clue about the vast capabilities out there, can’t figure out how to do something that requires some brain power or might i say smoked so much you don’t have much brain power left, completely eat into lame ad’s and only buy things because you think they will make you look cool then by all means Mac is your champion.. If you want a machine you can actually work with build (notice i said build, not buy) a windows based PC.

I use PC for last 5 to 6 years or so… but my experience with it is good expect few months with windows vista….
its so great i use 98 ,Xp ,f***ing Vista(not that bad after few service pack updates). now i use Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit… This is the best OS i seen in my life… i just run everything which i use ….
In my opinion i need Mac for only FCP and other like motion…and all.
otherwise Pc is best .. & Mac is also cool..
Ok, I’m a little late to this name game but. I would say I’m a mac guy. I’ve used a pc long enough but made my switch at vista. What a god awful os. I’ve been satisfied with my mac so far and I’ve installed parts into it for what I need it to do, but I can’t say it’s perfect. I’m basically set up with my mac tower and a pc laptop running xp. The only change I see myself making is getting a macbook pro next year and maybe getting another laptop with windows 7. In the end I can say this with total confidence that all computers f**k you in the end, no matter the os.
Hahahahaha. Now that last line is the most truthful and honest and real line I have ever read!
I use PC and MAC, and there are no comparisons: MAC IS THE BEST.
MAC have a the best OS in the world, based on UNIX on specific hardware and the crashes are practically non existent. PC are disastrous to work! Windows (all version) are disastrous OS, microsoft try to copy Apple but is back light years!! Windows is a system intended for self-destruction with the use…if some people is happy to format the system once a year…i think the professionist want more…and use a MAC
