Advanced Motion Tracking with Mocha AE

Advanced Motion Tracking with Mocha AE

This entry is part 6 of 12 in the The Complete Introduction to Motion Trackers Session
« PreviousNext »

Trey Morgan started an extended tutorial on motion tracking with Mocha for After Effects, Advanced Motion Tracking Part 1. In part 1 (59 minutes) he starts with an relatively easy screen replacement to show basics, then he’ll move on to a more challenging clip to show how to deal with obstructions, tracking planes moving off screen, etc.

You can more info and tutorials on Mocha AE in AE Help, and a different and more immediate mix of resources for Mocha AE and tracking in general at the old AE Portal. Here’s Trey:

That foot print is way bigger than her foot and clearly not the same pattern lol

  • Leo

audio is out of sync after you resumed from speeding up part (@ ~ 30 min).

  • Steve Cordes

Just what I’ve been looking for. Are there any source files?

    nice tut!

best thing i have seen in ages on this site

  • Randler

Thanks for the tut … but this dude is boooring.

  • mikko l

Thanks a lot…but no need to go through everything so SLOOOWWLLYYYYY.

    • kwaku nyantekyi

I agree. That was my only thing that bugged me about the tutorial. This was a great tutorial but it’s length could have been easily cut in half. He’s moving way too slow at times.by lingering on things after he’s already explained them. But other than that this is a very helpful tutorial. Keep up the good work.

  • TripleDweb

Really? no source files. Come On!. Completely lame. If you would of at least included the source files then the Tut would be 100 times more helpful. I highly suggest looking at Video CoPilots format.

I didn’t see the small problems with this tutorial, sorry, but files aren’t always included with free tutorials. You might comment directly on the author’s source page on Vimeo.

The content is great but it really lacks of dynamism.
And please reduce your screen resolution the next time, every body hasn’t a 24” screen and it’s hard to read the menu of your application for that kind of people.
    No offense,
and thanks again for the tutorial !

you’re soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo boring – could’ve done the tut in 10 mins why take an hour?????

  • AntoxaGray

Is it possible to have two windows for different comps? To match footprints with footage faster. I couldn’t find how to do that.

  • Mrn

Very interesting, i like this alot.

But the constant “tsk” sound irritate the hell out of me.. Please stop doing that.

Great tutorial, I’ve been looking for something like this. Only one problem though, the audio is out of sync after the 30min mark. Otherwise, great information! Thanks for doing this for us.

  • graphic86

    Hi
Where can download the file to do this training?

  • Stefan

Awesome tut, dude! A tiny bit slow paced but great input nonetheless and well explained.

  • Guilherme Todorov

thanks for putting this on Vimeo and not on the shitty player of this site.
    makes everything a lot easier

Sorry but this is terrible, the concept is great, and your final output is great, but I cannot follow this.

Especially because of the audio timing.

I work with web videos all day, and if my boss allowed me to upload something with such bad sync’ issues, I would probably be fired.

I question the quality control of AE TUTS, seriously it is not professional.

Glad I do not have a paid subscription

Sorry guys but most of you are extremely weird .
We are visiting AETUTS for getting some useful information , watching great tutorials and exchanging experience with one another.
Apart from the fact that most of you learn FOR FREE you also exert criticism on people who simply want to contribute to OUR KNOWLEDGE and enhance our skills.
I don’t care if the tutorial was slow or whatever ,the only thing I Do care is whether I’ve learned something new.
In a nutshell we all should be more careful when we criticize contributive and well-intended people .
I don’t want to be offensive , I just want to be supportive to all the creative people in here.
Thank you Trey for your tutorial.
    Waiting for part 2

      I agree

very helpful tips. thank you! but i almost fell into sleep….very slow teaching…

  • zyf

    That’s great!

  • MABS

I found this tutorial really helpful, as I’m just starting to learn Mocha. You are very thorough…however, I have to echo the two disappointments of others listed here. Pacing is very slow, but more frustratingly, the audio doesn’t match. Wouldn’t be such a big deal, except by the end when I need to follow exactly, it’s so far off, I can’t. Please take this as a positive criticism as I think basically what you’ve done is fantastic…just make sure audio matches and pacing is picked up by about a second and a half….

  • Arash

Great tut,but when is part two coming out?
