A Galactic Orb in After Effects

A Galactic Orb in After Effects

In a new tutorial at Video Copilot, Galactic Orb, Andrew Kramer builds a zoom animation inside a glassy sphere in After Effects with only built-in plug-ins:

“We’ll start by building the orb using real-life textures and then animate a camera through 3D particles. Timing is everything…”

This is a really awesome After Effects tutorial technique. I haven’t touched the software in ages but I can vouch saying there is a lot to learn and practice. The orb effect is just one of many amazing techniques I’ve learned from AETuts+

Awesome tutorial, i just started my first experiment with green screen and digital matte, its not amazing but im happy with it, i tried to alter the colours and timing of the tutorial a little bit and put into a scene and then i linked it to my unis student tv station to have it as an Ident… any feedback welcome.

You say this tut uses only built in plugins. But you neglected to state that you have to buy the Optical Flares plugin from Video Copilot. That runs about $125.00. So, yes, you DO need to buy something . . . .

You don’t. You CAN use the Optical Flares PlugIn for flares, but you can do this with the built in effect.
